24: Season 8 Discussion - Spoilers

Just thought I'd start this thread seeing there's none created to discuss the latest miserable 24 hours for Jack Bauer. So far the season has started slow and only really picked up when Rene Walker returned in the 4th episode. Seeing Katie Sackhoff in all girly mode was a bit disorientating at first... when her scumbag ex-boyfriend had her pinned to the wall by her throat, I kept telling my wife "Starbuck would lay the smackdown on him in less than a second!" :lol Anyway, I hope this season will pick up in pace soon.

Any thoughts?

ALl im thinking is............. geesh........... 20 more freakin episodes!

id be happy if they changes the name of the show to : 6 and just didnt draw stuff out so long

I can sum up the season in 3 lines:

"WHERE'S THE BOMB!?!"

"DAMMIT!!"

(And after the US is saved once again)

"I can't do this anymore... I quit."

I wonder what year it's supposed to be?

They put big gaps (years) in between seasons.
It does tend to repeat itself, but it's pretty good TV.

Assuming that Day 1 was in 2000 (only assuming this for the sake of it being the closest election year to when it broadcast) then Day 7 was in early 2013. Day 8 takes place relatively close to Day 7 (I haven't found any actual reference to how much time has passed) but I'm guessing mid-to-late 2013.

I thought Kim's daughter was just a baby in Day 7?
Now she's 3.

Well if the rest of the season goes like it is, I hope this IS the last Season as rumored.

Question:

What does Jack Bauer do for the other 364 days of the year?

Goes back to his home in Canada. ;)

Honestly I used to watch 24 religiously since Day 2 (my wife has watched since Day 1). Had to tape it if I couldn't watch it live.

Now it has become repetitive. And for whatever reason I enjoyed the seasons in which the bad guys used biological weapons better (no clue why).

I'm giving 24 another chance. I stopped watching after the ridiculous White House attack last season. It's okay so far, but the "24 Formula" is almost too predictable now.

Doubt this'll be the last. Have you seen the new CTU set. Looks like they sunk a few $$ into building that just for one season.

If Renee survives, they should have her take over for season 9.

Oh please god no more Renee! i mean the character is interesting, but couldnt they have chosen a better/more attracive atttriss? maybe somebody better known?

Not really a fan of Renee. I'm not sure why, she just kind of annoys me.

One thing I like about 24 is that no matter who you are, you could end up dead at any second. Except Jack, but I'm sure that will eventually happen when he decides to quit.

That has happened in more than one season a new CTU set Just for that Season.

The ratings will tell, that and the writers.

There is a lot going on behind the scenes.

This may well be the last season

SPOILER if you didn't watch Monday's show!

I just got around to watching last week's episode and last night's episode. I thought things were turning around, but it's back to the 24 script now. There's NYPD SWAT and CTU personnel who were apparently trained by the same people who trained the Secret Service from last season. They just fall over and get shot or panic and run. Then you have a government facility with no safety barriers to block unwanted traffic. There are government buildings of MUCH less importance in Dayton, OH that have popup barriers for like 1/4 mile to the main buildings. Yet CTU has none. Oh and surprise! a mole in CTU. She works for terrorists, but couldn't figure out how to get rid of her ex! I'm trying to give this show another chance, but they have to do something different next season.

The show's full of holes, but the barrier isn't one. They directed the daughter to come to them. They didn't realize the threat until she was already there.
