2024 SECRET SANTA THREAD - Registration Now OPEN!

Ho Ho Ho!

PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS POST CAREFULLY TO ENSURE A SMOOTH GIFT EXCHANGE.

Alright folks, let's shake off the autumn/winter blahs with another Secret Santa! No matter what you celebrate at this time of year you're welcome to join us in the spirit of giving. Anyone who wishes to join must let me know by posting in this thread by NOVEMBER 1st so that I can get everyone matched and that they can get their gifts out in time.

Here are the rules:

1. Any current member of the RPF as of the posting of this thread may participate (ie: no joining now just to participate). HOWEVER, by joining you are agreeing to both give and receive a gift. If, for whatever reason, you are unable to send your gift please let me know immediately so that I can arrange a work around. People who do not send gifts have in the past been banned. It's not worth it for a $20 gift! PLEASE only join if you are going to participate.

2. When you sign up you must state whether you wish to ship domestically or internationally (please include what country is "domestic" in your post). In your post also please include your interests and a wish list to help your gift giver with ideas. By all means post "wishful thinking" wants but also put some realistic ideas in there too. Note that while I am asking for international volunteers, I will be making every effort to match people up with those in the same country. The mail service is, sometimes slow at best, so this is to try and avoid potential long delays, lost packages, and customs issues. This means, for instance, that if only 2 people from your country sign up you will almost certainly be matched. Some exceptions may be made on a case by case basis or in situations where it can't be helped.

3. Although there is no limit to the cost of gift you are encouraged to keep your gifts at about the $20 range. Creativity will undoubtedly be appreciated by your recipient! Something handmade with $20 worth of materials can be worth more than spending $100 at a store. You are of course able to send a gift of any value if you like but understand that what you receive will likely be in this range. Please keep your gifts in accordance with the RPF guidelines. Many members open their gifts on Christmas with their families so sexual, profane, or provocative gifts are not necessarily welcome by everyone. KNOW YOUR RECIPIENT and send something accordingly.

4. I will keep a list of names updated in this thread - please PM me if you are interested and include your address in the PM - When I draw names I will send the Secret Santa his or her recipient's details. The person you send a gift to will not necessarily be the person that sends you a gift. IF YOU HAVE MULTIPLE ADDRESSES please use the one that you will be at for the holidays. Better for your parcel to arrive early and be held for you than have it sit on the step for a couple weeks waiting for you to get back from your parent's place.

5. Domestic gifts must be in the mail by December 10th. International should be sooner than that. If you don't want me harassing you please post a note saying that you've shipped either in this thread or via PM to me. If you need to push this deadline back a little bit you must contact me. It is still your responsibility to get the gift to your recipient on time.

6. A gift will be considered "lost" if it doesn't arrive by the end of the first full week of January. If your package had tracking you are not responsible and a new Santa will be provided. If your package did not have tracking you will have to send another gift.

TRACKING: Tracking is not mandatory but if you DO use tracking you are not responsible should the recipient not receive their gift. If you choose not to get your gift tracked that's fine but if the gift doesn't arrive you're still on the hook for it. This way you can still mail it any way you want but you know where you stand depending on the shipping method.

7. Although this is a "Secret" Santa you are more than welcome to let your recipient know who you are if you'd like to.

Finally, not a rule but in the spirit of this exchange please give a "thank you" in this thread to your Secret Santa and let us know what you received. Not only is it the polite thing to do but it lets your Santa and myself know that everything went smoothly. It's a Christmas exchange, please be grateful. Not everyone gets a "blow you out of the water" kind of gift. Don't expect it.

Here's hoping for another successful and SAFE year!

I'm in! U.S. domestic please.

Interests: I'm a general movie geek: any genre films, preferably sci-fi/fantasy/horror/action, in that order. Anything is welcome, preferably 1:1 props!

Grew up in the 80s, a fan of all the genre TV shows and movies from the period, and a fan of everything since! It's hard to make a bad decision with me. :p

The biggest gaps in my collection (things I love):
  • Hellboy
  • Predator
  • Conan the Barbarian
  • Battlestar Galactica (both versions)
  • Galaxy Quest
  • Shaun of the Dead
  • Mad Max (Fury Road & Furiosa)
  • Suicide Squad (Gunn) & Peacemaker
  • Deadpool
  • Riddick
  • Tron
  • Wonder Woman
  • Logan's Run (movie)
  • Firefly
  • Shaun of the Dead
  • Rick & Morty
Thank you!

Unfortunately (for me) i'm not going to be able to join in this year. We've got a building project starting on our house mid October which is going to take till March next year so i'm gonna be Super busy till then.

I will of course look forward with bated breath to seeing what everyone gets.

Once again Michael Bergeron deserves a huge thank you for suffering the headaches of this for another year.

Have a great Christmas and a brilliant Secret Santa'ing experience.

Officially signing up for this year
The one thing that brings me joy during the holiday season…making cool stuff for strangers! Actually it’s friends I haven’t met yet.

Also, thank you for hosting this again! This truly does bring me joy in a world of store bought throw away, give away gift giving, making stuff for others to me really channels the reason for the season so to speak.

Domestic United States again please, unless you’re short and need to move me… that’s cool too.

This year I seem to be all in on Hellboy cursed type items, I hand sculpted a cursed monkey paw and scored an amazing lucky Mowgai hand (think rabbits foot), trinkets or Aliens and disclosure. I was gonna build the box from Hellboy and fill it was cursed items within that universe and outside the hellboy universe, just cool **** I find etc. Also, If Aliens did exist, whats their culture? What kind of Art or sculptures would they hold dear?...not sure if that means anything to anyone reading this but I thought Id share. Maybe it gives you some inspiration
Interests are pretty much the same as last year, anything you’d find “in world” of a movie… not a specific movie prop FROM a movie per say, examples maybe are a made up newspaper on a Superman sighting, menu from bobs burgers, made up case files from ghostbusters or poster in the Death Star locker room inspiring stormtroopers to“ hang in there”. Not necessarily props from the movie, but inspired by let’s say.

My interests are the normal stuff really
What we do in the shadows tv series
Classic movie monsters
Hobbits and Hobbiton
The muppets OG
Ghostbusters
Keaton Batman
Reeves Superman
BPRD
The movie “they live”
Hellboy

Neil Gaiman’s Sandman
and of course Bobs Burgers

really anything you would find on this site is right up my alley...
Handmade stuff is always awesome and appreciated no matter what the level of craftsmanship you may possess.

In again. US domestic preferred. I have lots of interests, but these are my primaries:

Return to Oz
Evil Dead
Red Dwarf
Spaceballs
Willy Wonka
Mad Max
Connery Bond
Most Tim Burton stuff (esp. Sleepy Hollow)
Guillermo del Toro
Ray Harryhausen
Star Wars
Indiana Jones
Twin Peaks
Lost
80s Creature Horror
Narnia, especially Magician's Nephew
Mashups of any of these

What exactly I get is really irrelevant as I will most certainly like it. Have fun with it and be off the wall if you want! Original, non-movie creativity is encouraged.

Been waiting for this all year. Count me in!

Domestic US preferred.

Current Interests:
Blade Runner
Star Wars (OT)
Fallout
Mad Max
Indiana Jones
Metal Gear Solid

I wanted to maybe mix it up a little bit this year and say that if you're the lucky person who is dealt my name by Michael that if our interests don't strictly align that's okay! I'm keen to receive a gift that you were enthusiastic about. That said, I'll list a few of the areas of aesthetic interest to me.

Cassette Futurism (Syd Mead)
CyberPunk (CDPR)
Post Apocolyptic (Mad Max)
Diesel Punk (Sky Captain)

These are just suggestions.

Happy building everyone! Looking forward to putting something together myself, and seeing what you all come up with!

Always look forward to doing this! International please

I like the idea of my SS getting me something from their favorite fandom and maybe a note as to why they love it so much.

As an alternative here is a loose list of some of my favorites:
Star Wars
Alien/s
Ghostbusters 1&2/Afterlife
Rocketeer
2001: A Space Odyssey
Blade Runner / 2049
Fallout
Dredd
Sci-Fi in general
Indiana Jones

Such a shame! Real life gets in the way. All your potential recipients just let out a cry.

List updated!

Great I'm in again, last year was my first time and was blown away by the gifts people made. I've been watching for the last couple of days awaiting to see when it was relisted, many thanks in advance for keeping it going.
Love all movie props, and especially real-world items repurposed for screen use... prefer 1:1 rather than miniatures, BUT any gift will be received and welcomed, HAVE A GREAT TIME EVERYONE...

* Of course Bond props (vintage Connery 1st, then Brosnan, Moore,)
* 20,000 leagues under the sea Nemo 'inworld'
* League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
* Rocketeer
* Nasa moon landings era
* 1930-50's world style sci-fi tech
* WWII Captain America

cheers all....

HoHoHo!

Thanks Michael for the hard work again - you're a gentleman and a scholar.

Excited to get making. I'm UK and more than happy to ship international.

I’m in! Thanks for doing this again.

Ship domestically, preferred.

My interests are

Hellboy
OG Muppets
The Rocketeer
Superman
Space Ghost
Dr. Doom
The Iron Giant
Men In Black
Ghostbusters
Star Wars (OG, Kenobi, Mando)
Universal Monsters
Apollo moon landing
Replica blasters/guns

I really like things that feel “real”. Replica props are wonderful, but so are “in world” props, that might have not seen screen time, but add depth to that universe.

Alien (1979)
Apocalypse Now
Pulp Fiction

US-based but okay with int'l.

I like James Bond, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (same author and production company as Bond), Fantastic Voyage (film), Wild Wild West (series or movie .... ya, I know), Austin Powers, 1/6 scale (non-military), 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea or anything Steampunk, Lost in Space (classic), Gerry Anderson (especially Thunderbirds & Captain Scarlet), sci-fi props in general ... oh, and 007 (working that in twice would be a hint).

Participating in this exchange is the highlight of my holiday season!
