Is this not being discussed?

I didn't watch it... it's easier to just wait until the morning after and look on IMDb.

So... Mad Max? Holy crap... I didn't think it was that mind blowing, but apparently there's more to it than I though... or something. AND it beat Star Wars.

No Oscar for Stallone? Pretty hard snub, although I haven't seen Creed, I at least tried to watch Bridge of Spies but it put me to sleep.

Ex Machina... deserved. Not even a nod to Avengers or Ant-Man?

I guess I'll need to watch The Hateful Eight to see how the music was. I can't think of many scores from this year that blew my mind, although I really enjoyed Fantastic Four. Star Wars seemed pretty phoned in for me. It didn't have the impact that ESB had on me as a kid or even some of the themes from the prequels. Maybe I need to listen to it again.

What say you all?

Was shocked that mad max took home so many statues. Never thought it was anything special in the end.

poor Sly, you win this year Shocker special. Happens every year to a deserving winner. Look at poor Leo, took him forever to finally bring one home.

I watched spotlight in the theater when it came out. Wasn't looking to see it nor wanted to, Yet the wife did. So of course i took her and was blown away. I said that night it was best picture I seen in a long time. Wouldn't be surprised if it got a Oscar nod. Sure enough it took home the prize and I was thrilled. I even voted for it on the movie poll on this site.

Stacey Dash was great during her little speech. Wish more people would take off their hate blockers and see the how everything really is. If Can't play fair all around don't complain.

Even though he was nominated for Hateful Eight, I think Ennio's oscar win was really for his body of work. As much as I'm a fan of Quentin Tarantino and Morricone both, I didn't think the score was that great.

Mad Max beat Star Wars, and it surprised you? I am not a fan of either but after watching them I can appreciate the cinematic aspects of Mad Max more than Star Wars.
Sure, Star Wars pulled at the nostalgic heart strings of the world, but it was not even close to a cinematic masterpiece. It is what it is... A nicely filmed movie with typical flying scenes and costumes like we have seen before. It's hard for people who love a film 100% like fans do with SW, to step back and really examine the film, but to me, Mad Max stands out between the two when you put them head to head when it comes to editing, make up, costumes, effects, editing, etc.

I was happy Revenant took Cinematography and best actor, but Spotlight piqued my interest. I have not seen the film and the fact it took best picture has definitely lit the fire to check it out.

Couldn't watch Oscars 2016 live before, finally caught up to it couple of hours ago. Still have to catch up to many of the Oscar movies.

Glad to see that Brie Larson won. Leonardo DiCaprio finally got the Oscar and he gave a great speech.

I was most surprised with Ex Machina winning Best Visual Effects, thought Star Wars would get it. But in retrospective Ex Machina likely seemed more deserving, as it brought in more convincing flawless realism through visual effects.

Chris Rock was funny and insightful as always, he also addressed the controversies head on. But my most entertaining moment of Oscars 2016 was when Louis C.K. introduced the Documentary Short Subject category, he was so freaking hilarious.

And it was good to hear Back to the Future's Power of Love instrumental music playing just before the Costume Design category.

Though it didn't win Best Picture, I was very happy to see Mad Max: Fury Road winning many of the other creative and technical awards.

After reading this I watched it... he's always awesome and that was no exception. I read a couple headlines that are already picking him to MC next year's Oscars. I might actually watch it if that happens.

Lots of posts on Facebook that say Morricone beating the great John Williams is quite an accomplishment. Well, he's been nominated 50 times and has won 5, so I'd say it's pretty easy.

Mad Max winning pretty much all the technical awards and the costume award and then Ex Machina taking VFX were both a big surprise, considering the latter probably had the smallest budget among all the VFX nominees. Among the actor awards, Mark Rylance was the surprise for me, and Spotlight instead of Revenant for best picture was another surprise considering they gave best director and actor to Inarritu and Leo.

Chris Rock's whole diversity spiel was negated when he brought out those 3 Asian kids on stage for his extremely unfunny (and in poor taste) joke. He also focused way too much on black diversity and not on diversity as a whole. Most of the show was pretty standard fare, but too damn long :facepalm I mean it ran like 45 min over! I also didn't find most of the show enjoyable, really not surprised ABC's ratings set a new low for the Oscars in 8 years, even lower than last year's low.

I haven't seen Mad Max yet, but it didn't surprise Star Wars didn't win much. As much as I love Star Wars series overall and The Force Awakens, from an objective oscar standpoint, there really was nothing special about that movie. There were a few nice cinematic shots, but overall it was pretty much paint by numbers movie making.

Mad Max should have won every award. Not just all the Oscars, every award. Pulitzer, Nobel Peace Prize, Miss America...

I will say I thought the nods to Ex Machina and Hateful Eight were appreciated.

Haven't seen the Revenant because I'm not crazy about the deviations from the book. I kind of feel like this was more Leo's "it's your turn" Oscar rather than an award for this specific movie, but what do I know.

Zero interest in Spotlight. Looks dreary.

Saw it live. Which for me started at 2.30 in the morning and ended at 6. I do it every year. I liked last year's show more.

I can imagine how angry Jada Pinkett must have become from watching this... Especially the Jack Black history joke.

Noticed that many of the female stars must have worn ... sticky tape. Not that I'm complaining or anything.

Agreed, and I think there was someone who had spotted some music being a reuse from an older movie.

And Ennio Morricone had already got an Honorary Academy Award for his body of work back in 2007.

I found it to be condescending of documentary film-makers. OK at a comedy-club, but very bad form at the Oscars right when you are the friggin' presenter for the award.

While I was rooting for Mad Max to win everything, including Special Effects, I give props to letting Ex Machina take the gold. Not only are the visual effects incredibly well done, they come off like they did it for the sake of doing it. Every effect you see serves to compliment the characters and the story rather than "This squid design is really cool. Let's build an entire action scene around it!".

I'm just happy Matthew Wood didn't win an oscar.

Pretty sure that she, Spike Lee, and Al Sharpton would've all lost it when Chris Rock had Stacey Dash come on the stage for another bad joke.

I managed to see all of the nominees for Best Picture this year, and I was a bit disappointed that Spotlight won. It was a good picture with a great message about excellent journalism and the horrors that the Catholic Church has gotten away with for hundreds of years, but it was NOT the best picture IMO. Room was so much more interesting and well acted and editted. The Revenant was also done beautifully. Either of those were more deserving of Best Picture. I thought Tom Hardy should have taken the Supporting Actor award for his part in Revenant. (He was good as Mad Max also!)

I really thought Bryan Cranston should have won Best Actor; he was just fantastic as Dalton Trumbo....really fantastic! I love Leo and all that he puts into his roles, but Cranston was so much better!

Brie Larson in Room deserved her Oscar, for sure! The kid was so darned good in that movie that I thought he should have gotten a special Oscar for his part. He was flawless.

Mad Max got some well-deserved special effects wins, but I was so glad Ex-Machina won for visual effects...it was top-notch!

By your deeds, you honor him. V-8.

All of the in-your-face racism/diversity crap from this year's Oscar's make me glad I didn't bother watching it. I wonder if this will hurt or help Stacey Dash's career. I didn't know she was still relevant beyond Clueless (1995). Apparently I don't have my finger on the pulse of Hollyweird as much as I thought I did.

I'd say Chris Rock sealed the deal for Louis CK hosting next years White People's Choice Awards.
