I'll be identifying mine, and have some component pics identifying what's what... likewise not a single vote for mine (yet) but at least one 'also-ran' mention so it shows someone noticed it... which; y'know I'm ok with. :)

I have a lot more work I would like to do on mine, so it may be a wile after the end of the contest before I post all the info on it, but I will be taking credit for it, after the contest. Like wise, if mine got any votes so far, they are very, very, few. I really though it was a great design, until I saw the other entries, so I'm not really suprised I'm not getting more votes.

Same here, although I still love my design. I've already done all my fixing up. Added sound, refinished some parts. I'm happy with it.

A quick question about the rules...

I've gone through and tallied up the votes, and while first place is a landslide runaway, there are only 3 votes separating 2nd through 10th place. Will there be a second round of voting with some of the entries eliminated to determine how everyone else places?

Also, I saw several posts where people voted for more than one entry and did not indicate which one they preferred the most. I assumed everyone who was allowed to vote was allowed only one vote each. How will these posts be counted? Will the opinions of those who indicated their 2nd and 3rd place choices be considered?

Just hoping we can clear some of this up. Many thanks.

well it was extremely hard to decide. (if I was in a store and deciding to buy I am sure I would have ended up spending a lot more on these than just getting one design for sure.)

but since there can be only one. #17

IIRC all past contests were done as follows. The most votes=1st place, 2nd most votes=2nd place, 3rd most votes=3rd place and so on. Only the original vote should count. When I voted I included my personal preferences for 2nd & 3rd but those preferences shouldn't count if we follow previous contest procedure.

I didn't figure they would count, but I wanted to know for sure. That still doesn't clear up the issue of people who voted for more than one and DIDN'T indicate which entrant was their first choice, neither does it explain what will happen in the event of a tie, which was the point I was trying to make. With so few votes separating 2nd and 10th place, and with only 5 prizes to go around, a clear and fair system for breaking a tie will need to be implemented.

I agree on those who really didn't make clear on their actual vote, I saw those as well. As far as a tie, I'm sure that those that are tied would be voted on in a tie breaker. Perhaps The Next Doctor could chime in on that.

I kinda figured if they did not make it clear and you can not get a response from them then the first one they mention in their post should be considered the choice they made first and so on.

We do still have a little over a week, untill it's over, so those ties my clear themselves up.

As far as those who's post are not clear, I see that all too often in these things. You would think folks would know that the person putting on the contest has to read through every post, to tally the votes, and a simple post voting for this number, or that one, is all that is needed. If folk want to say something kind, they can post it further down in there post, or after the contest is over, but to post excess stuff, just takes up space (like this post. :lol), and adds to the difficulty, of tallying the votes.

I know a LOT of them are great, I know they all deserve kind words, and much consideration, but the vote is what counts right now, and should be the point of the posts in this thread. (or if necessary, posts asking pertinent questions about voting, or the contest in general. such as the ones this post is in reply to.)

All that said, it's not my contest, and if I'm wrong, then "The next Doctor" can feel free to correct me.

A few people know about his now, so I'll offer it out to everyone. Is this cheating and/or a slightly unfair move?

For those of you not not on the DW forums it reads :

Well, it's part of a contest right now. The votes are going on and the grand prize is a MFX sonic screwdriver. If you're registered at the RPF you can vote, and if you would like tot help me win and want to PM me to see which one is mine, (I doubt I can announce it before the winner is picked) feel free.

It was posted by the 13thDoctor who I have no idea who that is here. Seems a little unfair to do that as it is the biggest Doctor Who forum on the net. He hasn't posted which one is his directly on the thread, but he is telling everyone who PMs him according to that text. A couple of members there have registered thier disgust.

thats just not fair
dont get me wrong i know i am not going to win
but if i did i would like it to be for my design not the fact that i can get
people on a doctor who website to vote for me
if i was running this i would not be pleased

Agreed.

I'm holding off on posting pics on my own site until after this contest is over.

I have no illusions that I'm going to win, but this does seem a little 'off'.

Not. Cool.

It's one thing to post about the contest over there, but a whole other to beg for votes in what is supposed to be an anonymous contest. That's just low and kind of breaking the rules.

I do have plans for the eventual tie. As for the I like this and that and this posts, unless the poster either edits the post or makes a new one, the first mentioned entry will be counted. As for the post on another board, I am a bit unsure how to handle that one. Here are my thoughts on it:

1) Not all members of the other board are members here. The only way to vote is be a member here.

2) I also know that members could PM their friends with their entry numbers and have them vote. That is just the way of the game and nothing I can do about that.

This contest was meant to be some fun for all members, and I think it still is.
