I had planned to do a different contest every season, but just when I was thinking of doing my next one, this contest popped up, and saved me a lot of work. :lol
I think those that say that it is best to keep specific contest (lightsaber, sonic, etc.) to once a years, is a good. We all have real lives, and there are a lot of projects on most of our benches. Most of us don't have time to do a contest of the week, and even if we did, it would take no time, before we were board with them. spreading them out, and changing them up, will keep it fun, and keep more interested in it.
When I did the lightsaber contest I had a lot of people asking me to do a blaster contest next, but as tempted as I am to do that, I kind of want to do a Phaser contest, just to reach out to as many franchises as we can.
I also like the idea of added restraints (though I know not every one does.) Though I didn't get to inter it, I remember thinking how cool one of Luuke's saber contests was, when he set the theme as "your favorite non star wars movie, or TV show" Think about it, Star trek themed sabers, etc. That's just cool. I was thinking a "Wood Phaser contest", or a "SteamPunk Phaser contest." (or the same, only with blaster, or lightsaber, etc. in place of phaser.)
Or, to the other extreme, maybe one of those deals where everyone gets the exact same 20 pieces to use, and only a couple of days to work with them (maybe a week or so), and we see just what they can make with them, with no other theme then that. It could be any prop at all, replica, or original design. Any franchise. And it would just come down to who had the coolest idea, and best execution. (kind of like those toy custom saber kits, where you get a number of parts, and you can combind them however you want, to get the saber you want)
Or, here's a crazy idea, how about a "what the market will bare contest" A franchised based them would be set (lightsabers, blaster, sonics, etc.) You would have a month or so to build it, and then instead of voting, everyone would list there item on ebay, and the where you place in the contest would be determined by who's sold for the most. Then the prize would be bragggin rights, and what ever you make from your sall. Just a thought, but I deon't want to take this thread any more off topic, so back to the voting.
(I know how hard it is to count votes, when you have to waste time reading post that have nothing to do with votes at all.)

I def would like to see another contest of some kind.....
I so totally blew the interpretation of the --no "replicas"-- rule in this
one--.....
Next time I will build what I want with total disregard for rules and prizes!

I'm sorry that I didn't get to enter this. I didn't come up with any good ideas until a day or two before the deadline, and while I could have put something together in that short a time, I had other things that needed doing on those particular days.
But that means I get to vote! I'd be happy to carry any one of these with my Doctor Who costume. But I'm going to vote for number 24. The circles remind me of the roundels on the TARDIS interior walls, and I like that bit of design echo.

I was a really close call for me between 17, 31, and 35.
After mulling it over for a few days though, I'm going to vote for 17...but it only beat the other two in my mind by a hair.

You totally should!!! And I'll let you in on a little tip... all the folks here love to see pics of a new build but they also LOVE when you can manage to take progress photos! I know it's not always possible, and sometimes gets in the way of flow but when you can, we dig it!
