re: 2010 "$1 Store" Lightsaber Contest - WINNERS ANNOUNCED!

Ouch....oh well, I'll have better luck next time :D

re: 2010 "$1 Store" Lightsaber Contest - WINNERS ANNOUNCED!

As mentioned before in this thread, I also would really like to be able to cast at least two votes maybe three. I think this would produce more of a runoff showdown between a few entries. :thumbsup

NOTE: I did NOT enter this contest.

re: 2010 "$1 Store" Lightsaber Contest - WINNERS ANNOUNCED!

I thought of a voting system which could make everything perfect (if it is possible).
We keep the poll (make it member only), but instead of an infinite amount of votes, we have a cutoff vote amount (ex 100 votes is the max one saber can get). Then we make the voting almost like a race, the first saber to reach 100 wins first place, second saber to reach 100 votes wins second place, and so on. This will spread the voting, eliminate ties, and (if possible) we could take it another step, and once the first person reaches 100 votes, a visible "1st" will replace the amount of votes they received, which will make the end a lot easier (figuring out everyone's place). I don't know how possible this is, but if it is possible, the next contest will run a lot smoother.

Thank you all for the kind words.

The crystal is made of plastic... Scored it off of a set of crystal Christmas ornaments at the local 99 Cent Only Store.

I was looking for something like that as well but all the Christmas ornaments in my local shop didn't fit the bill. :(

Good find though!

re: 2010 "$1 Store" Lightsaber Contest - WINNERS ANNOUNCED!

Hey, gang, Sorry, to be posting this so late. I was unavoidably detained.

I'll be putting the winners list together with the screen names of the builders, shortly. (I hope, at the latest it will be up by morning.)

There were a lot of ties unfortunately. We are going to do the spreadsheet thing, to brake those ties. I know it's not a perfect system, and I know some of you don't like it. But, with the poll being what it is, we do need to brake these ties. And, this really is every bit as fare, as a coin flip, or any other random way of picking one, over another in a tie. I don't like it any more than many of you do, but I assure you, that we will try to fix these problems before next years.

Here are the results. The top 12 will get prizes. (there where many ties, These results are the numbers from the poll, as ran through a spreadsheet program. A big Thanks to Shylaah for doing the spreadsheet for us. :) )

Well, talk about a humbling experience! I had all the confidence (arrogance?) in the world when I emailed jason1976 my pics. Now I find myself surprised, and excited to see my name on the bottom of the prize list. :cool

Thanks to Jason & the Staff for putting the work into making this happen, to the prize donors who made sure we were playing for more than bragging rights, and to my fellow entrants for their great submissions.

This contest RULES!

Well, this makes 2 years in a row, so it's looking that way. However, weather I host next year, or am just a helper, is yet to be seen. My dial up is very slow, and it my be better for some one with hi speed Internet, to do this. Plus, so many folks hated the poll thing so much, if polls do become the standard, there my be very few people that want the contest next year.

Last year, things went a bit more smoothly since I took, at least, a month before the contest to plan it out, and set it up. This year, I was going to set it out, but was asked by the staff, about a week and a half, before this thing started to host, with there help. Wall they were HUGE help, I wasn't ready for the whole Poll idea, etc. So, unlike last year, there wasn't any kind of plan, in the event of ties, etc. We started this year, with no prizes, and just lucked out, that so many folks were so kind as to donate stuff. etc. It is my hope that weather I host next year, or someone else does. That it runs much smoother. I also, hope we can find a way to alter the rules, to where, it keeps the spirit of the contest, but allows those that don't have dollar stores around them, to use othe kinds of stores. (that still carry junk parts, but just might be exactly $1.)

Anyways. A HUGE thank you, to the staff, that truly helped me in a lot of ways with this. A Big thank you to all that donated prizes. And, a big thank you, to All that entered this contest.

re: 2010 "$1 Store" Lightsaber Contest - WINNERS ANNOUNCED!

Well in my opinion, the voting method I came up with would solve everyone's problems...I just don't know if it is possible.

re: 2010 "$1 Store" Lightsaber Contest - WINNERS ANNOUNCED!

Durrett has chosen prize 10 (the A-wing kit) Minifig, your turn to choose. :)

re: 2010 "$1 Store" Lightsaber Contest - WINNERS ANNOUNCED!

Congratulations to everyone on the stellar builds! Everyone of them a winner IMO. Kudos to those who'll be getting a prize!

Thanks Jason for hosting this and for taking all the flack that goes along with that job! Even with the all the pains of growing and changing around here, you still did a great job as host. And thanks to the Staff for letting us play!

And last, but certainly not least.....thank you whoever you are dear soul who voted for mine.

Now, somebody start a build thread so we can all post our stuff!!
