2-1B Medical Droid, anybody been working on one?

Hey Chris,
Very nice project, I was wondering, where did you get that 2-1B head? I'd be interested as part of my OT "helmet" collection (ok, I know it's more a mask than helmet) :)

I know you were asking the other Chris, but I can answer this.
It's made by Zorg. I have the same one. They were made a couple years ago.

none available at this time.

i should be offering just the face part next as a wall hanging type thing then the full heads, hopefully with vacd necks

they will be slightly modified from the heads you see here. more depth and no head spikes on the side.

Update on my progress:

I have the torso connected to the base with the legs. The details are not there yet but I need to get the upper part done first since it will be used in a fan film. I am currently working on determining the best way to allow for shoulder rotation with motors. I sure wish they had some giant servos that could be used. I will get some more pics up when I have a chance.

ive been working on my reworked head but its not ready for molding, just a little more work needs done.

however i have the face part(wall hanging) part done. you might be able to tell its face has approx 10mm more depth than the version 1 i did. the full head will also feature this.the item pictured has the silver alice band up against the wall.

Re: 2-1B Medical Droid, Updated Pictures

Finally got to a point where I thoought it was worth posting new pics.
Once I get the structure for the castings on I will start asking for opinions on accuracy

Cool. That is some progress there.

How tall is he? I just ask because my perspective may be off with him currently being top heavy and I keep thinking he has short legs.

Thanks,

Bryan

He is about 69", the head is drooping on the neck a bit since it isn't mounted in the picture. When it is on wheels it will probably add an inch.

aarghh!

after looking at the side on shot of yout droid it doesnt look like i needed to extend the head. :confused

exellent work so far chris :thumbsup

i found these shots on an old cracked cd-rom, somehow it managed to extract them.

WIP on the head a few years ago

2-1B is at the Minnesota Science Museum until next Wednesday. I'm planning on going two more times before they close up shop. I'm planning on taking a bunch of pics of him, and that other med droid, too.

I finally got an arm attached! I am going to keep working on the arms and once they are mostly done start working my way down on sculpting the cast parts.

Looks great, forttusken! Very cool!

Well, I took a whole bunch of pics, many should be good. I'll probably upload them to my Flickr account. They're pretty big (8 megapixel camera, and I think the pics are 4 meg?), so I don't know if I need to resize them before uploading. BUT, I noticed something interesting....

2-1B has part of Vader's saber on his butt. It may be old news, but that little scuba disc detail on Vader's ROTJ saber is on 2-1B's left butt cheek. It may be on both sides, but I couldn't see the right side. I didn't notice it until after all my crappy batteries were drained, but I think I probably got a picture of it, cuz I took a ton.

I noticed that also along with the mini switch which I assume turns him on and off. Looking forward to the pics. I have a bunch too but there are things I missed.

Yeah, I saw that mini switch, too. I wasn't quite as sure that it was a switch, but I couldn't think of what else it would have been. And I checked some of my pics, and I do have at least one of his bunnal area. Not as sharp as some of the other pics, and I don't know that I would have realized what it was from the pic. But if you know what you're looking for, you can see it. And the switch.

I made some progress on one arm. Just a couple more parts including the claw and it will be done. I finally think I have found the right size air cylinder and hope to order that and a few more parts in the next week or so.
