PtByNmbrs - Those are SUPERB custom figures. Great work.

I guess it's Hollywood legend that Lucas did "Star Wars" because Disney wouldn't give him "Flash Gordon"...

That War Rocket Ajax is the coolest prop I've seen in a while. I LOVE that design. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Gang-
I am a big Flash Gordon fan....how big you ask? Well let's just look at a few items from Rocketbobs collection......

I actually had to pull Klytus out of his box, I didnt have any pictures of him yet. He will get his own post once I take some studio pictures of him...he deserves his own post dont you think!

You would do well offering Klytus castings... love that mask...

I'm willing to bet a lot of people here would want a Klytus mask. :)

Re: 1980's Flash Gordon Props?

I know I want one -

Bring in The BORE WORMS!

NO! NOT THE BORE WORMS!

There was a Rockbilly band a couple years ago called War Rocket Ajax. Coolest band name in a long time.

When I was a kid my dad did a plumbing job at the studio where they were filming Flash Gordon (Pinewood, I think). He came home with one of those huge cannons that the Hawkmen use, and a big fat book of original storyboards.

Imagine my surprise when my mum threw both in the rubbish the moment I left home. Along with all my die-cast Gerry Anderson Toys, toy Daleks, action figures, the lot.

Gotta love family :angry

More than two years later it still hurts as hell to read that little story :cry

And regarding that Klytus mask, looks like a nice project !

I love this film! Always wanted to make a Klytus mask - many thanks for the close-up photographs.

Aren't mom's great for throwing all the good things away. It must be in the mothers hand book or something to do this. They don't ask if you want it either. So many stories like this. In 1989 my mom helped me once by cashing all my coins in for me along with a quarter I've been looking for and just found that I was told was worth $100 for the miss print of missing 19 in the date. I'm sure Michelangelo's mom probably threw out all his old sketches for him.

Re: 1980's Flash Gordon Props?

I just got Klytus. I know there is another one out in the world, that seems like it is the hero one. It is hard to say what function mine had in the film. It has a movable jaw, but they put some kind of bondo a half inch thick on the inside of it to make it a solid piece. Maybe the "throw on the spikes" stunt version or the "oozing eyes" version. Who knows!

I am currently in the planning stages of casting myself a "back up" copy in case this one gets damaged.

That mask is awesome! I think I've seen your collection before on your Flash Website. Great collection. I only have books and pictures. The sword is really cool and looks like a ancient artifact. I like it. Thanks for all the pictures.

A bit OT, but does anyone think a remake of Flash Gordon with new CGI would be a good thing? Or should the classic film be left alone?

I wonder how well a "new" Flash film would fare at the box office? I know I'd pay to go see it :)

I think a new movie based on the comics would be great. I don't think they should make a remake of the old film because it would be hard to top it in my eyes.
