1975 rollerball helmet help

DOH!! Of course they removed the helmet SNAPS and replaced them with the spikes.

I'm starting to be less sure of this now, at least based on the helmet images I've seen so far. The helmets seem to have the snap on each end farther down, nearer the edging, and the center snap is up higher. The movie helmets appear to be a straight(er) line. Maybe they used the center snap as a starting point, and placed them on the helmet in a line, and filled in the two end holes? Seems like a lot of work though. Maybe there is another helmet we haven't seen yet, that has it's snaps more in a line. Maybe an Arthur Fulmer?

If I get some free time this week (bwahahaha) I'll see if I can get some screencaps off the DVD. There is a good side shot of the helmet during the Tokyo game, IIRC. One thing I did notice watching the movie this past weekend was that there is a snap at the back bottom of the helmet.

I bought a bunch of spiked studs for this helmet & gloves a year ago from Tandy Leather. You can buy the catalog or download the PDF from their website.

Still haven't found the remote control for "Multi-Vision" but think the pistol used to blow up the trees was a modified Automag.

I think the Sports Illustrated issue you're looking for is the 7/7/75 issue.

Funny you should bring this up.

Way back when (1995ish), a former friend of mine brought me to visit collector Bob Burns and see his collection of AMAZING stuff. If you've seen his segments or read his book, Bob has A LOT of stuff from movies. He was very kind to let me look around and poke at some of the stuff (I nearly lost it at the "hero" Dropship and Sulaco models from ALIENS!). During this he was giving his "tour speech", which he likely gives MANY times during the year. Part way into it, I found a particular item and picked it up. It was a Green/Black helmet with studs on it.

"Excuse me, Bob..."
"Yes."
"This is from ROLLERBALL isn't it?!"

He paused, then smiled at me.

"Oh! You're are geek. I don't have to explain all this then."

I was so proud!

Sadly, it's been too damn long since I've seen him and he's likely forgotten who I am.

So if anyone has access to Bob & his collection or perhaps the book(I really need to get that book), you might get a better idea of at least one of the helmets.

Just watched the film again after a couple of years. God it's good, especially considering it was made 3-1/2 decades ago.

Does anyone have a clue what type of pistol they use in the party scene where they go out and flame the trees? Almost looks like a luger, but not quite. Very interested to hear if anyone has any info on it.

Thanks, J
