1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor Ghostbusters Ecto-1 Project: Full Screen Accurate Build

Hey gang, it's been a while since posting much progress. I was going to take the Cadillac out for the summer parades, only to find out that my brakes were completely gone. That was a horrifying experience, one I do not want to repeat. So there's that. The great news is, there were no accidents to the car or anything else. Just counting my blessings. What also stinks is that I just had the brake booster rebuilt last year and got a new brake master cylinder. It's always something with these cars.

Anywho, I just thought I would post another piece(s) that I found. In the original film car there were retractable window privacy shades called, the Vanishades, something not all Miller-Meteor's had as they were an optional choice. For cars with this option there were aluminum brackets to hold the curtains up, and thankfully I was able to find a complete set. There are 2 on each rear door, 2 above each of the long rear windows and 2 on the rear loading hatch, so 10 of them all together.

It's been a while since posting any progress on here, mainly because nothing has really happened... until now.

I did happen to come across a particular piece, one that I wasn't necessarily looking for, but that's how these things go sometimes, you just come across things. And with such a massive build, as this one I'm undertaking to make this the most screen accurate Ecto-1, it's nice to have those small wins.

Now the piece I came across is actually one that I bought years ago, it's actually pictured back on Page 2 of this forum, and it's a piece many other builders have as well, I just never realized they weren't screen accurate. They are definitely close, but not screen accurate, which is something I just learned. What exactly am I talking about? I'm talking about the Polynoid actuator. It was an incredible find, one I'm happy to have in my possession.

Here is my new acquisition:

Here is the one, in the original Ecto:

The interesting thing is that I always thought that the production team just painted the actuator its gray color and painted the rod the green, turns out that they didn't and that I originally came that way. And I like that it also has the correct slotted screw. And just a few months prior to finding this one I was trying to correctly match up the end washer on the rod, on mine.

And it's interesting to note, the size on this accurate one is a lot different than on the other one I have.

Pretty cool the little things you learn all through this project.

Amazing! What do you not have?

That's a great question, I believe the only thing I really need to track down in the Motorola Radio bezel. I pretty much have everything, and that goes for interior and exterior. Which, believe me, was no easy feat. lol I forgot to post another photo of another ridiculously hard to find part. I'll post that later.

Alrighty, here is another hard to find piece that I've been meaning to post a picture of. This is the switch panel that sits right in front of the Polynoid. Believe me, I searched for a very long time to find this particular piece, and it was near impossible. When you are working with nothing, it's hard to find what you are looking for. lol You'll see certain pictures and take notes. And with some of these pictures there isn't much to go off of.

Sure, OCD is a real thing, but I am trying to make my car the most screen accurate car out there and I won't settle for anything less.

Anywho, on to the pictures.

Here are pictures of the one in the original car:

This particular picture, though not much, was able to help me out some:

Again, you just have to be diligent and go off of what information you are given.
