1953 war of the worlds sound effects?

Wasn't sure what area to put this in but i'll go with this one. I'm trying to find half decent copies of the pulsing sound and firing sounds they used for the war machines in the George Pal movie. I tried a few that were on youtube but so far you hear a ton of background noises. Oddly enough these and sounds from Robocop are hard to find, probably hard to replicate too. I figured you guys may know where to find free copies. Worse comes to worse i can always try capture the audio off the dvd.

I have a thirty second (ish) clip of the search sound (the grating, pulsing sound when the eyestalk is moving around prior to firing). It's pretty good quality and has no background noise. PM me your email and I'll send it to you this evening when I get home.

As to the sound of the heat ray firing, I have no idea where to get a good version. I've been looking myself.

IIRC, the green blobs of energy firing is the same sound effect they used for the Enterprise's photon torpedoes firing in Star Trek: The Original Series.

Yeah, why they went with.lsu files I don't know.

http://www.saberforum.com/index.php?topic=13776.0 Actually you can convert them with audacity. The converter in obsidian set off a warning from norton. I gave that file a chance but there's so much extra stuff layered over the pulsing sound. I'm going to see if i can use audacity to separate the sounds somehow.
