$1300 credit…WHAT should I get?!

Hope this is cool to ask here…

Long story short, I’m an idiot. I was on a payment plan for a prop and halfway through my priorities shifted dramatically and I decided I’d rather not lay out another $2k for something I really didn’t want/need. I knew the stipulations. I’m out the initial deposit and payments made are for credit only. So now I have $1300 credit at Hero Prop and I honestly couldn’t care less.

Any ideas on what I might get there that I could either dump on eBay at a loss or at least isn’t just overpriced junk? I definitely do not want to add more money, so it’s gotta be $1300 or less.

Would it not be easier to pay for the prop and then consign it somewhere or sell it on FB for example? Now you are out your deposit.

It’s long done, I’m afraid. The prop has sold to someone else and I’ve just been sitting on the credit for months. At this point I’m afraid it’ll expire or something. It took me a few attempts to even get the owners to contact me, so I just wanted to get it done with if possible.

I’m kinda looking to do as you suggested now, but not the original piece I had intended and the deposit is definitely forfeit. I don’t want to lose the $1300, though, too, so I thought I could get something to keep, gift, sell, anything, but waste it.

I was thinking the Jaws shirt, too. I thought those were made in white, though…?

Other choices are the Armageddon jacket and the Tenet helmet. I’ll just wear the jacket and at least the helmet is displayable or wearable for a costume or something. As opposed to say getting a used Nuke Vial from Robocop 2 to sit in box forever.

I dunno, like I said, I don’t really want any of it, I just think it’s stupid to let these guys have my money because of my ambivalence.

Those Tenet helmets will imho not hold their value. Not a popular movie and there are several out there.

Probably nothing proprietary about them either, I suppose? It’s all just real world military issue I’m guessing.

Not sure what else to get them. Any ideas on stuff that you think might sell on eBay at least? There’s prob thousands of the Harry Potter letters and some of it wouldn’t even buy with “free” credit. Even if I have to take a hit of 25-30%. I’d rather have .70 cents on the dollar than nothing.

It is difficult to point at anything on their website that will sell well on ebay. A lot of people don't trust pieces on ebay. The letter is a genuine piece, but at 800 it is top of the market (auction level after fees). At about 500 USD it would be a good purchase. They do lower the price of them from time to time.

I've looked at their site for you some days ago, but nothing there is at a price level that will guarantee a 1:1 return, especially seeing most of their prices are not low and you have ebay fees. Maybe ask if you could get 75% of your money back from them, instead of using the 100% for a bad purchase.

I get the impression that won’t go over too well. Heck, I’d take 50% at this point. I explained to them after the fact the circumstances involved. In short, my wife passed, my daughter came to live with me, I changed jobs and we moved 3 states away all in the span of a month. It wasn’t for their sympathy or anything, I just wanted them to know I didn’t purposely flake out on them, I just had more pressing things on my mind and to do with my money than pay for a prop.

That being said, they didn’t offer to refund me any portion of it and I understand. I knew the deal before going into it.

Maybe I will just get the letter and whatever else I can get to equal the total. If I can’t sell for $400-500 at least my daughter and I are HP fans and can frame it up and enjoy it, overpriced or otherwise.

I would still ask them if I were you. The worst they can say is no. I would explain the whole situation again and ask for some understanding. Don't ask for 100%, but a smaller % with you stating that you understand they have cost, profitmargins and that in any other case you would have seen the deal through from the beginning.

The masks from The Walking Dead look nice and in your price range. Seemed like a popular show and the masks may hold value… maybe…

The Walking Dead (2010-2022) – Original Zombie Face Mask #220

Offer still available. If anyone wants anything on heroprop ill willing to sell you my credit there for .50 cents on the dollar.

I’m not sure if the best way to do it. In a perfect world someone would want something for $1300, pay me the $650, I buy the prop and ship it to them, but that’s not gonna happen.

I keeP lookin on there for something I can at least make some cash back on, buts it’s too involved. Even if I found something amazing that was > $1300, I’m not putting a single dollar into the venture beyond what’s available in the credit, so again I’m back to trying to find something(s) that closely equals the amount that someone would care about.

Waitaminute! There’s a bunch of stuff on there I haven’t seen before. What do you guys think of just getting 2 or 3 pieces from Kingdom of The Planet of the Apes (the skull is cool) or the Halo show? Even if took a hit on the resell.

Or what about this? It’s not very exciting, but at least it’s from a well loved franchise and a featured in a prominent scene!

Heck, even the GI Joe Roadblock knife should bring in something, no?

I wouldn't do the Blade III piece, as it looks to be missing several of the round caps and anyone wanting to buy such a piece would want a more complete one. The Roadblock piece is cool, while GI Joe is not that popular prop collecting wise imho (apart from some helmets) it is Dwayne Johnson.

You’re right. I looked at a bunch of others and they not only have all the blue pieces, but some of them actually light up. That one on their is kinda junky for the price.

The RB knife is cool. There’s definitely real world versions of knuckle knives out there, but this one looks to be an original design at least. Doubtful I’ll be able to sell it, though.
