Here is a Death Proof car I'm currently working on. I still need to do some of the detail work. Like the chrome trim for instance, but I wanted to show some of my progress. This is a modified Dukes of Hazzard 69 Charger. The wheels and year are the same as used in the film.

Let me know what you think....

Thanks!!!

I didn't see the film, but your skills look impressive and the car looks great!!

Photographed from the right angles/backgrounds, it could look full size.

Yeah, the paintjob is scaled pretty well, with the shading and all. Doesn't scream "toy".

I saw the movie but I don't remember--are those areas of damage you highlighted significant?

No I just wanted to show the damage detail... Was trying to go for the real look with it. I have done body work on cars before, so I wanted to see if the damage looked to fake, or cheesy.

First lets me say that I really like it - but since you asked for suggestions here goes

1) Its riding WAY too low. Watching that flick I remembered thinking their gonna blow those leaf springs in the back any second... and looking at yours overall its riding too low front and back.

2) The chrome bumbers are too shiny. Hit them with some dulcoat. that car was onls and mechanically good but showing its 30+ years... Same comment of the trim rings and center caps for the wheels...

3) Why are the windows blacked out? Some of the coolness of it was being able to see the stunt car inards... Its what made it "deathproof"
Some og the "dents" need a bit of drybrush silver then rust. to show where the paint had been scuffed away recently... and a while ago... There wasn't much rust but there had to be some ;)

4) I think I'd carefully "black" the door lines and the Heater vents (the ones just in front of the windsheild) It might just be the harsh light of the flash bu the fact that are not really "holes" shows up. In person it might look more "real" so this might be one suggestion to ignore...

Like I said in the beginning its looks realyl good - but you asked so... ;) Now all you gotta do is a vanishing point challenger and a Nova :love

Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to have to see which of these I can accomplish. It's a remote control car, so I wanted to keep it that way. That's why the windows are blacked out. I might be able to make an interior though I'll have to see. It's still a work in progress. I definitely want to try and make a duck hood ornament for it. As for the paint suggestions thanks I'm going to see if I can accomplish that. Might be able to raise it up too.

I think it looks great! I haven't seen the flick yet but I seem to remember the car being a Chev Nova from the ads? Did they use a Charger as well?

Yeah the Charger was in the second half of the film. It didn't have the skull on the hood though. But, the skull is cool. I have a custom made shirt with the skull on it. :lol

I agree that it's sitting too low, but seeing as it's the massive RC car, the only way to fix that is to hack it up. Makes me sad that every car has to be a low riding ghetto car all of the sudden. Thank god they didn't put rims on it at least.

Needs some chrome (or silver) on the window trim and side mirrors but other than that, it looks great. Now you can chase down the neighbor kids with the sickest RC car on the block. :)

Yeah gonna do the chrome, working on the hood ornament right now. Can't really change the hight without butchering the car. I took it a part again to see if there was a way I could do it, but nope no dice. Might be able to ad an interior though so that's cool. As for chasing down the neighbor kids sounds like an awesome idea. Or at least the annoying yippee dogs in the neighborhood!

Great Job!! The only thing I could add it to hit the tires with a fine grit sandpaper to make them worn and not so shiny! Are you going to do the front chrome duck hood emblem thingy?

Nah, I like it that low....doesn't look like a lo-rider at all. now if you had spinners, whitewalls and a 3 colour candy paintjob, then I'd say so esse...:p
