1/350 TOS "1st Pilot"

Some reference photos to help:

14 foot Enterprise Model Stills
It's the original The Cage model, but after went to few modification to look like TOS model.
The extructure it's the same, so it may help you, as shos some details like the flatter upper saurcer section.

May I ask what kit is this you are using ?

Uhhnnn let me see:

-Fist version os TOS Polar Lights was made with help of the Kerr planes, that took a lot of effort (suposed) measuring the original mopdel (now on Smithsonian after failed restorations), and with original photographs on set in the 60's.
But at first view many fans in few seconds found many mistakes. So they had to repair, fill and sandpaper, cut things, rebuild details... a lot of work.

-Time pass... Ker planes got better, new measurements, new HD photos and even digital 3D plan comparing angle and camera focusing, to try to match the model to the angle of the original studio photos. Suposed get many correction and nerar perfection.

- A new polar Lights kit surfaces, very expansive, a lot larger, and again by few seconds looking many fans found many mistakes... ...again... Tick gride lines instead of a fine grid line.

When they will learn to use fans to judge the product before final releaee?

In History of platmodelism... What kit was considered very good that no model maker had to rebuild or reform to correct project deffects, mistakes?

Round 2 kit

What about the decal diagrams of the ship in this kit?
Is it based on the upgraded Kerr plans?

Would be usefull to fix plans like Sinclair and Cassimiro?

Mr Kerr told me in another topic that the box and decal diagram in the R2 1/350 Ent are based in his upgraded plans.

Can someone make some scanning of the diagrams?

This is Jason build thread guy, if you want to ask
questions or make requests you " can " start your
own thread... :facepalm

ANYWAY,
It seems the only decal mods I need to make on the first pilot are in the area of the front leading edge of the saucer - two windows need to be blocked out and decals (that don't exist yet) need to be placed in their spot - grey window outlines. Why they were not included is an irritating mystery.

The name and registry markings are a different font on the pilot version, is this accounted for in the decals?

Yes, the decals include both versions. You have to cut-out the production version and add the pilot version piece but no big deal.
