1/350 TOS "1st Pilot"

This stuff - wish me luck! Hoping it sands at a rate akin to the styrene... the Apoxie Sculpt stuff is sometimes harder than resin, so care is needed when sanding.

At least no lights is accurate for a first pilot build of the ship.

I'm thinking about going lighted myself, although admittedly the production version of the ship would be better suited for that than the pilot versions (unless I go for a hybrid on some of the details). But, that would leave my pilot parts unused... unless I get a second kit that is (which I currently don't have the funds to acquire just yet).

Keenly interested in your results too. Apoxie sculpt works good for me for filling gridlines on my TBF-19. Not the easiest to apply but really smooth and rescribing-friendly (no crumbling). Only thing is, it has to be tidied up before it hardens or sanding is not easy. Can't wait for my kit it's been on processing for so long and now R2 has sent out a ready-to-accept-new-order notice.

Yeah, it caused more work in the end - bah.

Putty test on the bottom was much better:

Rico.... SUAVE!!!! :D

I'm thinking a solvent based putty might be best for a beast like this as I have a feeling the grid lines might be a bit TOO fine compared to what we are used to with other SF kits.

I'm loving the work so far though.
