1/350 E Lighting question

Well, last weekend I was able to take advantage of some warm weather and get to the garage to put of coat of paint on her:

I'm very happy with the color mix. I mixed 3oz. of it, which may have been a bit low..I've gone through 2 1/2 oz. of it but am pretty satisfied with the coverage overall. I've since done some more touchups and painted the marking on the underside of the nacelles using Lou's excellent masks.

One interesting problem I had; trying to get a little paint off the red lights on either side of the Bridge I masked it off and tried brushing a little brush cleaner on it and it broke right off:

I figured I could keep on cleaning it and glue it back on, but it just disintegrated into several small pieces. I didn't think brush cleaner would react with plastic like that. So, now I have to find a replacement for that part.

A couple of questions for you pros who have done this already:

The paint looks a little uneven in some spots, despite my going over it again. Will the glosscoat for decals followed by some dullcoat even that out? And for putting decals on, should I gloss the entire ship or just where the decals will go? And would you take the window masks off before or after all the clearcoats are on?

Well, it's been a while, but I'm able to call her finished! Had a last-minute setback which took some time, as I had to purchase a soldering iron to fix some broken connections on the port nacelle motor and PCB - of course they waited until the final install to break.... But all's done now. Some cosmetic work on the base and that'll be that. Here's some pictures of the finished product....

Thanks kirkman, baronvondoom! It was a lot of time and effort, but very fulfilling in the end. If I can do one of these, anyone can! Most of the time I felt like I had I no idea what I was doing. I can't wait to move on to a refit!
