I have a bunch of large projects on the go and as such not seeing a lot of progress on anything.
I was going through my stash and found the cadet series adversary set. Just for fun I quickly put the ships together.
I had forgotten how badly engineered the klingon ship was....
I figured I might as well challenge myself so I decided to do some work making it more accurate (I'd like to dock it with DS9...whenever I build that)
The first thing to do was cut the neck off the upper hull half then trim 2mm off the bottom of the remaining hull half. You can actually cut more off but I was being conservative.
I didn't take a before picture but there's machinery behind the wing hinges. Originally it's shoddily molded into the hinge baffle. I cut it off and built the triangular machinery housing then glued the widget tot he new housing. I also added some lost detail with strip styrene.
I also built and engine housing to take up the large gap where it wasn't molded into the model.
The last thing I did before filling/sanding/priming was to add a back cover (styrene sheet) to the wing hinges, otherwise there's a massive opening.
