Thanks.

TBH I wouldn´t buy this kit again nor recommend it. I suggest you wait for the SS kit instead of going through all the trouble of acquiring this one. Not just are all the details wrong on the 1/24 kit, but also the proportions. I just found out the main wing is much too long, and I better don´t start taking more measurments... :unsure I´ll be so happy when it will be off my workbench! :lol

Mate, you'll feel a lot better when its done, you've gone a long way to make this more accurate but it was never an SS replica, it was always a version of, so to speak. You will be impressed when its all displayed & looking ace.

Yeah. Alfred said that this was an interpritation of the b-wing. I don't think that it was ever meant to be accurate. Some of us have done things to make it more accurate, but in the end, you just have to make it into what you want it to be.

I was well aware of this, and I won´t ask for all the detail parts to be correct, but I would have liked at least the proportions to be right. The bulkhead/engine housing/bulkhead assembly should be about as long as the main wing´s leading edge, but the leading edge is about 5cm longer. And the main weapon´s pod is too narrow. Could be the cockpit´s diameter is a bit too small as well, and between the cockpit assembly and fuselage there´s a huge space while it should sit much closer. It´s not that hard to measure, calculate and compare some dimensions from reference pics. Unfortunately all this destroys the typical B-Wing look for me... :unsure Those are things I can´t correct that easily.

I also finished the cockpit, with even the pilot in place now (pilot is from the SS X-Wing, I guess that´s why he looks so angry, wrong flight suit for this ship and judging from the color of his face he spent too much time in the sun...:rolleyes I really need to improve my paint mixing skills. :confused)

Last one for today, I added all the missing details on the ship´s nose. The piece on the tip looks about right, the stuff under the nose is made up.

Wow seems I updated this thread about a year ago the last time... :confused

I recently bought the tubing for the new guns and made new ones, using reference pictures for size (Alfred Wong made them way too large) and some sections of the kit guns for greeblie detail. Then I mounted the s-foil gun pods, along with the new inserts/machinery parts. I really like how all this turned out. All that´s left to do is scratch the smaller gun barrels/targeting sensors/whatever for the s-foil gun pods. Already got the material so it´s only a matter of days.

I also figured out how/where to place the threaded insert for mounting so that the wings can be closed (only other place for the insert would have been in the main wing under the s-foils so they would not close when mounted).

Seeing it all mounted and stuck together (except for some small parts) makes me feel all the work was worth it. But please judge for yourself and let me know your thoughts.

All the base colors are down... Hope they´re about right, every reference pic shows a different color from the others and I suck at mixing paint. Base color is white, and the grey is Tamiya XF-25 straight from the bottle toned down with white.

So, that's what this kit's supposed to look like :lol
Picked up one from ShadowKnight as well.....gonna have to archive this post.....great work on re-detailing ! (y)thumbsup:thumbsup

Thanks guys! Against my original intent to recreate the B-Wing miniature without the orange circles, some people convinced me that it´s just not colorful enough and looking boring. So I followed all previous builds (which I hate to do :lol ) and painted the circles. Well... I´m glad I did! :cool Hope you like it.

Thanks guys! I´m not that happy with the paint job, the grey/blue/green areas are too dark. I´ll have to mist them even more... Again this delays the real weathering. :unsure
