1/2 studio scale Offworld Blimp - DONE!!

Re: 1/2 studio scale Offworld Blimp - MOVING AHEAD!

It's funny. I never thought of it as having a crew. Just thought it was like this thing on auto pilot running around the city. Good point on that gondola.

at wonderfest, you should absolutely set up a director's chair beside this piece and explain all you put into it, then try to sell a kit to do the electronics.:behave

even if it is dead canon, it being displayed over several hours will get anyone annoyed --- its just a busy little beehive of activity. hopefully for the show, you'll find the right level of volume to lure the moths towards the light, but not to annoy the rest of the crowd into wanting to wack it like a las vegas pinata.

Re: 1/2 studio scale Offworld Blimp - MOVING AHEAD!

Oh believe me, it will be audible, but nowhere NEAR the Bling-o-prise nightmare from a couple of years ago. I also won't be hovering, trying to sell PDFs on "how I did it", LOL!

Re: 1/2 studio scale Offworld Blimp - MOVING AHEAD!

How are you feeding the audio and video to your screen?

Are you just using a digital photo frame with video capabilities?

Just? JUST?!

Lol, yep! Plus a custom board from Lightbenders... It'll blow minds!

All in, just the electronics for this is around $1,600 or so... Maybe a smile more or less. I don't want to know, to be honest. ;)

Re: 1/2 studio scale Offworld Blimp - MOVING AHEAD!

I was planning on doing the same thing for a project. Good to know that I'm on the right track. I looked into using a mini monitor and it quickly got way over my head technically. Loading up a digital frame with a memory stick and hitting play is much easier.

Were you able to coordinate the two frames or do you need to use the remote for each one seperately?

Re: 1/2 studio scale Offworld Blimp - MOVING AHEAD!

I located both IR receivers next to each other, so one remote triggers both systems. Simple and it gets the job done!

Re: 1/2 studio scale Offworld Blimp - MOVING AHEAD!

I am legally allowed three per year. That's ONE!
