Hi everyone. I have been around a while looking at everyone's awesome work. The x-wing has always been my favorite ship, every since I was a kid. I have enjoyed many build here on RPF. I have always wanted to build my own. Now what size do I make it. Well as big as I can afford. Then there's the kit build VR's scratch build. Well the scale I chose to build there's not many pre built parts for. So I have decided to give it a try. Here are a couple pf pics of the wing build.

Go big or go home, this is gonna be awesome! Are you building this to represent the original or the larger ROTJ version?

I'm loving all the large scale builds people are doing. This one is no exception. Looking forward to more! :)

Started to work on the Intake engine frame's. Used a template and then wrapped 0.04 styrene x 3 over the template adding glue as I wrap. My be crude but effective. Repeat this step for the other three.
20150818_152402.jpg
Using the circle cutter tool to cut my half circle's to add to the back of bottom engine intake.
20150818_160244.jpg
This is what a finished one looks like. Then I have to cut off the extra on the sides.
20150819_112403.jpg
This is a sample picture of two bottom halves complete. I am using styrene pins to temporarily place piece's on model. Will glue and fine tune later.

This is just another sample picture where I am testing the X-Wing's as far a placement and mobility. I have bought a Adreno which I plan to use to control the wings with servo's. More to come.

Thanks Watson for the offer. I wish I had the ability to do that. I am using some PDF drawing's another member posted a while back. Great drawings. The drawings were done so someone could build a 1:1 X-wing.

I'm taking on the Colonial Viper first, but when I'm done the X-wing will be next

Your build looks terrific btw !!

Finished building lower engine housing. Test fitting to wings. Haven't added any detail yet or cut whole for fan placement.
20150820_214045.jpg
Starting build on upper engine housing. Again using 0.04 styrene sheets x 3 for proper thickness.
20150820_231749.jpg
Completed parts for upper and lower engine housing and middle support. Again using styrene pins for placement. Will glue together later after all placement issues are resolved.
