1:1 WALL-E

Looking amazing! I love the head movements, looks like he has the same personality from the movie. Will be cool to see when completed.

Thank you! It's actually at Extreme Steel in Culver City... McMaster has been my mentor on this project since the beginning, but all the construction and electronics I've done myself.

UPDATE 4-16-16

Just a few photos showing the progress of the left motor mount. I ended up using two springs to hold the axle in place.

UPDATE 7-5-16

Since my last update, I welded WALL-E's frame together, mounted his motors, completed the circuitry for his drive train, sculpted in Chevant, made molds out of Smooth On Mold Star 30, AND began casting his wheels in Smooth On's Task 13.

Some of the wheels look like they are riddled with air bubbles..is that what i'm seeing or is that just the lighting?

With the amazing quality of the build you have going, if the bubbles are an issue I would definitely get a pressure chamber for casting.

Veeerrryyy niiiice!! Glad that the project is still on.

Yeah, those definitely are air bubbles... I don't have a pressure chamber, but at the end of the day, these wheels are supposed to be over 400 years old and any bubbles will be hidden by the paint/aging.
