Great subject for a bust, and one you don't see too often, do you? Looks awesome so far. One small suggestion: make the eyelid droop/eye shape less symmetrical, perhaps?
Thanks so much, all! I've wanted to do a bust of Sir Ian for some time, so I'm glad that labor of love comes across! Lots more coming, so I'll keep you updated!
The molds on old Gandalf are now done and the silicone for his first casting is on order and should be here Friday! I should have some very nice photos coming soon!
The delay in all this only proves one thing... the movie was right when it said that a wizard arrives neither early nor late. He arrives precisely when he intends to! LOL!
Re: WIP of my 1:1 scale Ian McKellen Gandalf UPDATED!
Hey guys!
Just wanted to give you all a quick update on the Ian McKellen Gandalf. I had a chance to finally paint him up last weekend and I just received the eyes! Here are some updated photos of him how he looks now. The photos are a little on the blue side because of lighting, but I just took some quick photos off my iPhone. Please excuse the fish-eying because of the small lense. He is in much better proportion in person!
The first two pics show Gandy without his eyes. At this point, his flesh was all painted and matted. I did minor correction here and there, but the overall paint scheme didn't change much after this point.
I'll be hairing him very soon! Well, as soon as I can blend the hair! This is my second piece and both have been hairy mofo's! I need to do a regular character that doesn't look like a yeti! LOL!

Nick, I'll be doing one of each...First up will be Gray. I may even do a prequel version of the Gray since they have a few photos out there now of the new Gandalf from The Hobbit.
