Unfortunatly for some reason I cant change the title of the thread.
I will paint my astromech on tuesday in a friend's garden, but I've started to paint small areas on the body, like the coin returns and front vents. The pocket and side vents are not painted aluminium because they will be another color.
I've started to apply primer on small parts (horseshoes, booster covers etc).
Sorry for the mess lol
I fully redid my electronics, it's much clearer now ! Not the best but way better than before.
I lowered the radar eye. This is a very old one (resin) and I think it's smaller than club spec but it'll do the trick !

I still need to redo the wiring of my dome, it's really messy but I dont have time before CE2 ! That's a lot of work, isnt it ? Even trying to get everyting clean, my wiring doesnt look as good as some guys, I dont know why lol !
What droid are you bringing to DC2 ? I would have like to be there and meet you all guys ! Im sure you'll have a great time, cant wait to see pics !
Mu styrene droid is now -almost- finished, I painted it with a friend those past few days (that's why I was not on the boards !
), I wont post pics until CE2 is over, I didnt go with R2-Q2 paint scheme, but I hope you'll like it ! I'm pretty sure that droid has never been done before. A huge thanks to you for the help you gave me to get it alive !

It's time to post some colored pics !
I opted for a droid used in ANH. Unfortunatly the scene was cut but it's available again in the bonus of the Blu-ray. It's an unamed droid so I called him R2-J4.
Some of the pics were taken by Oliver, a fellow builder from the German club.
Look at this pics ! You can see 6 droids (I dont count the unfinished one and one can be barely seen at the very right) : only one R2-D2 !
I think she wanted to grab the holo !

Unfortunatly the run of the styrene is sold out, which means Cole and Daren *would* propose a run of alluminium domes soon (which is quite cool, you can see a few posts above how it looks).
You can also buy a fiberglass dome if you want, or just build an R4 or R5 dome by yourself if you dont want a headless droid while waiting for a new styrene dome run !

La plupart des pièces alu se trouvent uniquement aux US pour le moment, mais ça commence à bouger en Europe (Allemagne etc), tu peux trouver aussi des pièces en résine en Europe.
A friend from the UK brought some Dykem with him for me at Celebration II (we cant find it in France, US sellers wont ship and UK sellers ship a £5 can for £75 lol).
I had enough to do all my dome parts less the radar eye (Im waiting for an aluminium one).
We strongly believe they used Dykem Steel blue to paint R2-D2 (for ANH only).
Here's the result of some parts :

Did some progress on my scratchbuiltstyrene R5 dome :
I still have the neck collar uprights to make and order some resin parts and it'll be good for painting !
