1:1 Millennium Falcon Cockpit Replica - Group Build

What diameter is that cockpit? Looks somewhere between 8' and 9'. Greg, what size are you building yours?

If I remember... it's approx 8-10ft. Fortunately, we're not building the entire diam. The dang thing would roll out of the garage! ;)

Greg, I got your email today. busy at work and didn't make the time to reply yet. The managing company / organizing guys for SW Celebration called me today about showing the landspeeder and the snowspeeder. He's checking to see what their options are. Have you had any updates on getting the falcon in there? You have my number. give me a call after lunch if you can.

Ken

Hi Gang,

UPDATES! As I've mentioned, I am helping a friend renovate her home so my weekends have been nothing short of hectic! Any time off I did have was spent waiting for the rain to go away. Well, the rain never showed up and I was actually able to get some work done! I spent the day filling and cleaning up edges on the console while Jessie got a few things laser cut for some new greeblies and console panels!

I scribed a line in between the two instruments panels. This seems to have solved the cracking issue. After a few more passes with some sandpaper it's time for some holes to be drilled and then paint!

It was then time to address other areas of the console - adding primer filler

After spraying and adding filler it was time to work on some new greeblies! A HUGE thanks to Jessie for cutting these out!

I noticed the designers added this panel for ESB. I thought it was just paint but it was an actual panel. It will be sanded and painted black.

Finally, Daniel dropped by to update / show me some of the electronic bits he's been collecting. More on that later!

That's it for now... Stay Tuned! :)

Hello to all

I am new in the forum, but like you, highly interested in doing a build of the MF cockpit.

Could you please show me where to get blueprints for the structure , panels? i ve bought th haynes manual thinking that i would find them there, only to discover that although full of info there were no blueprints to be found.

thanks
Pedro

Hi Pedro,

Welcome to the RPF! Prepare to be blown away by all the talent! :)

Unfortunately, there no actual "cockpit specific" blueprints in circulation. All of our measurements/blueprints have been created by the team's 3D artist Starkiller. He has spent years designing/refining his MF model - a true work of art! I would suggest contacting him for any specifics.

So what are your plans? Full scale? :)

Hello SofaKing01

thanks for your input, i ll contact Starkiller and see what i can come up with!
Yeah, Full On Falcon its the way to go!!

Great job on your build, its looking really good!

Pedro,

You can also use my CAD files. I've documented the dashboard console and the sidewalls from the ANH cockpit. I'll eventually get to the rear wall and nose panels, but it would get you started.

Hi Pedro,
The link below goes to blueprints of the New Hope cockpit set...
http://www.synicon.info/SW/mf/blong-mf.jpg
That version is not the best resolution but you can still sometimes find the original packs for sale, like here...

Hope it's helpful :)

Hi Gang,

Another early morning update! The greeblie is getting close to being finished!

Lots of sanding has taken place but now we can begin to put all the different pieces together

Welcome. Glad you've come by to play with us. Have fun.

As a rough estimate, how many pieces would you say the whole project consists of so far?

Hey C,

Since adding the 12 new extension panels, shelves and light bars... if I include all the panels that must be bolted together or can be removed (i.e. console armrest panel, light bars, etc) we're looking at approx 45 individual panels. It sounds like a lot (which it is) but we keep several panels bolted together during transport. The 12 new panels will be a challenge when we pack them up for the next show... UGH...

Hi Gang,

IT HAS BEEN TOO COLD TO DO ANYTHING! UGH... I feel bad/frustrated not being able to post any updates. We have more frigid temps on the way and winter weather ALL weekend! BOOOOO

Yeah, I understand Sofa...here in the Ottawa region (Canada) we had crappy temps the whole month of Feb (-40 C with the wind factor:angry)...oh well, no spraying for me.
Thank God, I'm painting the scaffolding part of my Space Station by hand...inside!

29 C here in Brisbane Queensland but a possible Cyclone up north. 300mm - 12" of rain on the way to Brisbane.
