1:1 Millennium Falcon Cockpit Replica - Group Build

It wasn't that bad. Some places were more difficult than others but overall it wasn't that bad. Might have to go back fix some that aren't quite straight enough. :D

There were some areas on the 1:1 scale that were tough so I can only imagine what I'm in for when I get back to the 1:4 scale...

Thanks SK, so far after finding the cannon part it's all in the planning stages but it would mean some serious room conversion to accommodate just the seat, controls, viewers, window.... cannon - in the correct order and spacing. The 1977 quad is two coolers end to end (a tad too big), but, I just remembered the scene in ESB showing the underside cannon using just one cooler and I think that would fit in a spare room. So, maybe, the 1977 front half of the cannon room and window with the ESB sized cannon on the other side of the window - I think the Joe Johnston Gun Port concept sketch shows precisely what kind of setup would work for me. Something to think about anyways.

Cor Izzy, lol, the pics fooled me into one of them Yoda: "there is another" moments, superb work!

Measure up the room and see what can fit then move outward from there. I think a single wall with all the parts you've collected would be an amazing photo op! :)

Hi Gang,

Photobucket is going through its yearly maintenance so I'm unable to post any images...

Stand Tuned! :)

hey SK...here's an idea...when you're "finished" with this project you should take to high resolution scans/pics and have them converted into decals/3D files so all of our falcon models can have RPF / SK accurate cockpits!

Hey T,

That's a great idea! I already have a photo shoot lined up with photographer buddy of mine. It's just a matter of when I actually finish!

Remind me! ;)

Hi Gang,

Photobucket is back up! I was able to nab a few progress pics!

I painted the upper panel and drilled the new LED holes

Painted the new panel as well but I might recut (3rd time) to cover the entire panel since I removed the pin stripes

I always thought those panel case parts look like a piece ripped off a printer or computer box.

Hey A,

The way the original designers picked through and picked apart everyday items... Especially since there is a washing machine part on the outside of the MF... they could be anything! :)

Hi Gang,

Sorry for the LONG delay... Saturday was a total bust. I couldn't really do anything as the laser cutter, which now back at 100% and awesome, still needed to be configured.

I spent all day Sunday working on all the new greeblies for the upper body panel, the foot well greeblie and a few other new items. Sit back and enjoy! :)

I love this shot for 2 reasons. 1) the new access panel and 2) note the small screen I placed on top of the foot well greeblie in the background! It added that little boost I was looking for!

Wow big update!

I have been following your build for nearly two years now, and it's been a blast to follow. Every monday/tuesday, I can expect a new batch of photos :)
People at work see my screen and ask what it is. "-Some guy building the millenium falcon cockipt. -Wow, send me the link"

I might be wrong, but aren't you worried people might kick in those greebles you're putting on the foot board? If you take it to exhibits/conventions, visitors might not be as careful as you are. Maybe I'm wrong and there is lots of room.

Hi OC,

Thanks so much! And thank you for the long term commitment! ;)

The foot well greeblie is far enough forward and will be up and angled away that no feet will hit the actual panel. At this time, we're not having anybody sit in the chairs until we're able to find a solid base for the chairs. We haven't been able to figure out how our heroes were able to get in and out of the chairs with such ease - minus Chewie!

Thanks again and as I always say "Stay Tuned"

Have you considered a sliding system for the chairs I know it's not 100% canon but abit of poetic licence to allow for people getting in and out without damaging stuff has to be allowed, simply have the chairs slide back and spin 90° person gets in chair spins back then slides forward into place.
