Re: 1:1 JOKER Bust (Lets put a smile on that faceSSSssssA)

Looks AWESOME! I really love that your doing a different look and facial structure! Definitely giving the piece more character, direction, and energy than I've seen done before.

@chucky, I'm assuming they're teeth pressed into the clay, much like the eye forms. They're a different color and shade than the rest of the clay and I know that using pre-made teeth and eye holders is common practice.

Re: 1:1 JOKER Bust (Lets put a smile on that faceSSSssssA)

Here we go Frosty homing in on the negatives...

You guys don't seem to understand the underlying issues and politics that go on in here... I know who suckface is mates with... that doesn't mean hes being influenced in his opinion but I know with my experience of prop forums that people tend to side with their friends and favourites and have a dig at what they see to be the opposition to try and derail and start fights... it won't of course work with me... It just makes me even more determined to make my work perfect :love

Why so defensive, anytime anyone questions what your doing you fly of the handle?.
People are going to say what they think, its a forum for prop lovers, your going to get different opinions, but thats all they are

With all due respect - and, acknowledging that I don't know anything about the "politics" in the sculpting community - I think suckface's comment seemed to be fairly constructive. He said specifically what he thought needed to be improved, without being too negative about it. And he seemed to respect your other work, since he was holding it as a high benchmark.

I don't necessarily agree with his criticism - I certainly do see Heath's likeness in there - but there's no need to jump down the guy's throat, is there?

Re: "LETS PUT A SMILE ON THAT FACE!" 1:1 JOKER Ledger Bust

Should have gone to spec savers lol:lol

You call that even constructive??? I call it POLITICS as we all know who your the biggest fan of (checking your previous posts) and isn't it funny you've never posted in any of my threads before yet you seem to be comparing this with my other work already.... Its also insulting to the other people who have given their opinions on this to say the scares are making them think this the joker not the likeness itself.

I knew creating this would cause a few eruptions for the wrong reasons.

Politics ??? whatever you like mate

I'm a fan of the film and love the character thats why I've commented, It is nice to see a different take on him as I said

I think you have a problem with any one making any sort of comment about your work unless it's positive :behave so you can bend what I've said all you like theirs no hidden agenda here

I have not insulted anyone, thats my opinion from looking at the pictures and I feel that the likeness isn't quiet their yet so if it was me, I'd work on that before adding scar details

It's quiet obvious that anything other than praise mentioned regarding your work sets you off on a retaliation mission against someone for having an opinion, yet looking at your posts you like to give yours, so maybe except a little back now and then without making it personal

all that said I'm looking forward to see how this progresses as I'm sure it will be a great bust

Re: 1:1 JOKER Bust (Lets put a smile on that faceSSSssssA)

Looking good Phil! I definitely do see Heath in the sculpt.

Re: "LETS PUT A SMILE ON THAT FACE!" 1:1 JOKER Ledger Bust

I can take constructive critism but I can't take blunt comments like you gave... constructive is when you say sumthing could be improved and explain how you think it could be inproved.... if you can't explain how then shut up coz you don't know what your talking about and you are probably being just negative for negatives sake... end of!

Looking forward to seeing this done phil, I understand at he minute this is really early in but i;d say that its looking good so far. The one thing i can see which is quite obvious and im sure you;ve noticed it already is the shape of the head in the last pic but as i said im sure your working towards it. Keep up the good work and im looking forward to seeing this progress.

Politics? I can pull up alot of YOUR posts as well and there is a pattern of you attacking ANYONE who has an opinion other than praising you, constructive or not. Now your telling members to SHUT UP? If you cant take people giving there honest opinion, constructive or not, maybe you shouldnt post your work, its a public forum and its going to happen, right or not. You know this. Attacking members, telling them to shut up and insisting that anyone who has a negitive or constructive( in there eyes) opinion is just being political.....is childish. :rolleyes

Yeah well you would say that wouldn't you coz your a fan of another sculptor and had a dig recently about my Luke sculpt amongst other things in other peoples threads so even when I'm not posting you're having a dig at me!!!...

Yeah maybe I should stop posting my works in here.... wouldn't that please you and a few others.

This is the look I'm going for ;)

Re: 1:1 JOKER Bust (Lets put a smile on that faceSSSssssA)

Phil don't sweat the comments you know to be negative. I know from a couple of friends that they take sculpting very passionately to such a degree and my observation is that like any perfectionist you don't always respond how others may like. Look at Vash with his Depp bust for argument sake he does all that work and someone gets on and says the cheek line is wrong :confused of course the guy was right and the comments were taken very well and bust improved.

You do it yourself. I've seen many times kudeos for your work and a sense of achievement and then it's mainly you that decides to resculpt the piece etc as you're always tinkering. It certainly won't stop people from having an opinion either way and it's damn frustrating no doubt as you've studied the character to death at what should be an expert level but other eyes and opinions are also good which I'm sure you know. As I said to Thomas recently don't let anyone deter you to the point where you don't want to post as that's them winning. This hobby is political. Full of jealousy about accuracy, money, who's getting the praise and so fourth.

I'm looking forward to this, no doubt it will be the ledger to have amongst some great ones already.

Re: 1:1 JOKER Bust (Lets put a smile on that faceSSSssssA)

Thanks....

Also need to point out this is only the beginning... After I've completed the basic sculpt it will be detailed beyond belief... none of this random stuff with cat combs and talc. I've discovered a newer technic thats far more effective in this material so, believe me, this thing will look so alive that it might even move if you look at it to long :lol

Re: 1:1 JOKER Bust (Lets put a smile on that faceSSSssssA)

As a newer member, with no "political allegiance" (really...?) I can honestly say that so far I do not see Heath's likeness. I do however see a fantastically detailed looking sculpt in it's early stages, and will look forward to seeing more of this, I love seeing the sculpts evolve.

Re: 1:1 JOKER Bust (Lets put a smile on that faceSSSssssA)

Thanks....

I do however feel myself that the likeness is pretty good already even if the expression and lack of hair is probably throwing you.

Heres a earlier pic of the sculpt, with different lighting, before modifying the teeth

I'm new and have absolutely no skills in modelling like this so I think what you have done is really spectacular! I'm glad I have no ability to do this because I think I can appreciate it more than others.

Re: 1:1 JOKER Bust (Lets put a smile on that faceSSSssssA)

I've no political allegiance to anyone here.
As someone who over the course of five years has spent alot of time studying the look and mannerisms of The Joker as portrayed by Heath Ledger, I definitely DO see a fantastic likeness in this stage of your sculpt.
Only little thing I can see thats niggling me a little is the right scar. I think it should be built up slighly more (maybe it's just me).

Re: 1:1 JOKER Bust (Lets put a smile on that faceSSSssssA)

Yeah i can definately see the likeness in the earlier pic.
