    High-Poly Horizon: Zero Dawn Focus

I converted your twill weave to a plain weave, if you want it. Resized one of the twill rectangles from 600x300 to 300x300, and then just copy-rotated it into a pattern. (The full image looks a lot better than the thumbnail.)

Help With Molding A Stone Guard?

Squish mold sounds like a good plan. If you are more comfortable with a pour, I would turn the part 135 degrees. It will allow air to rise up through the 45-degree grid instead of getting stuck on the horizontal sections, and won't need an extra vent on the tab, which you would need if the...

    Captain America's helmet -> speed-peping foam file.

I built this out of card stock at 100% to check the fit before shifting to foam, and it is too large for me. Passing it around to various friends, I found that it fit people with head circumferences around 23-3/4 (about 60 cm, or basically a hat size of 7-1/2). My head circumference is 22-3/8...

Looks great! Nice settings for the pics, too.

PVA - Acetate, Alcohol or both?

I'm a bit further along with my project, and question 2 has been answered by testing. PVA Drywall Primer & Sealer is NOT an acceptable form of PVA for sealing foam. I now have True-Bond II wood glue, and should be ready for the sealing step in a couple days.

PVA - Acetate, Alcohol or both?

I am cobbling together a foam part (pink insulation, EVA, and foam in a can) with the intent to make a fiberglass mold. I've read a lot of posts that talk of using PVA as a sealer for the foam. I believe this is polyvinyl acetate. After applying the sealer, I'll go on to the rondo and sand...

Old-school tokusatsu cosplay pt. 1: Magma Taishi

I had no clue who Magma Taishi was, but I thought that it sure did look like Goldar. Then I read your text and saw that it was! Nice job.

I am a NOOB who wants to make his own chainmail

I make maille, and have made a couple shirts and coifs. I'm 5'-9.5" (177 cm), weigh about 190 lb (86 kg), have a 43" (109 cm) chest and 32.5" (83 cm) waist. I coiled, cut, and wove my first shirt out of 16 ga. (.06", or 1.5 mm) wire x 1/4" (about 6 mm) inner diameter (ID) rings made from...

Romeo's Knight Costume (Baz Lurhmann version)

I've heard of people getting cheap maille shirts from others over on TheRingLord and Mail Artisans International League forums, and the general consensus has been that you get what you pay for. Usually, but not always, the shirts have had rings that were not all closed properly, and they may...

    Halloween Costume - 2011 Thundercats Lion-O

I've started working on what I figure is the smallest, easiest portion of the costume - the spats. I found a lone sock whose partner had been sucked into a dryer wormhole, put it on, and proceeded to cover it in duct tape per the instructions in Festive Attyre's DIY Spats Pattern. After a lot of...

    MonStar of Limbo

That looks great! How did you do the hair? I'm working on Lion-O for Halloween 2012 and that looks like one awesomely shaggy mane.

    Halloween Costume - 2011 Thundercats Lion-O

I'm a fan of both the 80's Thundercats and the new series, and I aim to suit myself up as Lion-O of the new series for Halloween. One of the things I like about the new series is that the clothing and armor actually looks like a bit more practical. First off, here are some links to some Lion-O...

    N7:Armour Templates/Patterns & Prop Codex

The codex is a PDF, but the A4 and Letter platforms are PSD's (PhotoShop files). I have PhotoShop at work, so I have never needed to research other viewers for PSD files.

    Chainmail help!

For costume maille, the best ring size depends on what is most important to you- speed of manufacture, weight, appearance, sound, sturdiness, or price. For manufacturing speed, .10" (2.5 mm) x 7/16 to 1/2" (11-12 mm) ID aluminum rings would probably be fastest, but it is going to look really...
