    Enterprise NX-01 Refit 1:500 scale - 3D printed <UPDATE: Completed - pics on 2nd page>

Great job! Question on the .stl file. I have this file too but can't get it to print on my resin printer. The walls are way too thin and I can't seem to get them to a printable form, how did you get it to print?

    1:35 Scale X-Wing Mechanism

I can print too. I totally understand the concern for intellectual property. PM me, I'd like to work something out :)

    1:35 Scale X-Wing Mechanism

You're right, it's the big Hasbro version.

    1:35 Scale X-Wing Mechanism

Looks great... question is though... I need 15 or more for those big 1:25 (think that's the scale) X-wings

    Hasbro Hero Millennium Falcon Modification

I have 3 of these beasts! I definitely have to spend some time reading your build! My biggest issue at this time is how to cut that damn Hasbro plastic and get a nice clean cut like you did! I have 15 of those huge X-Wings and the one I am working on is the biggest PITA as far as cutting out...

    Enterprise NX-01 Refit 1:500 scale - 3D printed <UPDATE: Completed - pics on 2nd page>

VERY nice work! I have an Ender 3, CR-10s and resin printer. Right now I am trying to print out the secondary hull in resin, but the stl is pretty bad- lots of artifacts and imperfections and nowhere near the details you have with your file. I will have to check it out. Oh, I am doing the 1/350...

Question using dry pigments for shading and detailing

Me too... I never heard of them until they were mentioned on this thread. I probably did see them when I was looking at various powders on Dick Blick, which is where I bought these. I really like that they have various tones of neutral gray and different oxide colors. I hope these give me...

Question using dry pigments for shading and detailing

The pastel chalks I tried are Daler/Rowney soft pastels. I think I paid $5 for a pack of 12 colors. I'd say I'll never have a use for half the colors. I've been using 80grit sand paper to turn them into powder. Like I said, it does work but I do like the Pan Pastels better. I haven't tried...

Question using dry pigments for shading and detailing

Another thought korben... yeah I could have spent that $48 on another kit or towards another kit, but I look at this like my other paints and things like LEDs and stuff I buy. I use them on lots of different kits, so I just look at it as part of my building supply expenses in general not per...

Question using dry pigments for shading and detailing

I too was grinding down and making power out of pastel chalks, and it does work, but I have to say not as nice and easy as using these. With the pastel chalk, at least for me, it takes much more layers to build up the color to the same as one layer of the PanPastel. Maybe I'm just using really...

Question using dry pigments for shading and detailing

I just got my PanPastels from Dick Blick. OMG thank you guys for recommending them! They are SOOOO much better then trying to make powder rubs out of pastel chalks! And super easy to use- much easier than masking and spraying! One more question... what do you guys used to seal them with...

Question using dry pigments for shading and detailing

I agree they do seem pretty easy to work with, and faster than masking all the K'Tinga panels and spraying them. Plus if you don't like the color combination, it seems a lot easier to remove and try something else, whereas using paint isn't that easy. The Tamiya sets I have look more like a...

Question using dry pigments for shading and detailing

I have some of the Tamiya sets too, and like mentioned they remind me of 'eye makeup'. I've seen guys use eye shadow for their builds, but I never found any locally that were matte, all were shinny or glittery and that's not the right look I want/need.

Question using dry pigments for shading and detailing

That looks great Alley. How hard are these to apply? I'm assuming like other powder rubs it's just a slow apply, rub in, and build up process correct? The pastels I'm playing around with are pretty easy to wipe off with a damp cloth if I don't like the look. Is it the same with PanPastels?

Question using dry pigments for shading and detailing

Ok here's what I am trying to do... This is for a K'Tinga build and I understand what you guys are saying about preshading panel lines. I should have been more specific. These are the 'plating' panels on the D7. I think I successfully came up with a base paint and now I am trying to do a...
