You cannot vary ratios with "fast cast" urethane resins. A way to get a bit more pot life is to refrigerate your bottles before you pour. Urethanes rely on heat to cure, chilling them slows down the reaction.
The bubbles can be caused by two main things,
one being over mixing, when you stir...
Straight latex built up in layers would be the easiest way, you can tint it with acrylics.
Another method could be caulking silicone thinned with naptha, this would provide a flexible membrane. This can also be tinted with water based acrylics.
My final suggestion is a bit harder to source. It...
I just finished making a set of "con safe" aluminium wolverine claws.
Started with a length of 100x3mm aluminium around 900mm long. Drew out my pattern and cut them all on the bandsaw.
After they were all cut, there was a lot of filing and wet sanding before polishing to a mirror Finish.

Alginate would be a good choice.
Personally I like using chalking silicone thinned with naptha. I've done a full head mold for less than $20 using this method. Check out stiltbeaststudios on youtube and he has a tutorial on how to do it. It is great method for cheap molds.
After lotd of filler and sanding. I have just applied the first of 2 coats of primer/surfacer.
After this will be 1000 grit wet dry and then auto acrylics.
I bought a raw casting iron man mk42 helmet on ebay and I thought I would share my progress
I started with this
Keyed the entire thing
And then a coat of spray putty and dolphin glaze
I just applied a second coat of spray putty
I will keep you posted on progress
G''day guys,
I bought myself a polyester resin casting Mk42 helmet. I was wondering if there are any tutorials on how to do the eyes and is there a tutorial on motorizing the face plate. Any links are greatly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance,

Blue foam is expanded poly styrene if im not mistaken. I would go for something like a low expansion polyurethane glue. Depending on where you are, it may go by different names but the most common is gorilla glue. A trick to make it set faster is to wet the two surfaces of what you want to join...
Ive turned all 3 types. You need high density eps the bubble stuff is useless

To glue styrofoam use gorilla glue, its a low expansion polyurethane glue. Styrofoam works great in the lathe, just keep tools sharpish :)
