Neuroscience is not a discipline, but a way of thinking about the brain. It comprises many disciplines, including molecular neurobiology, neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, neurochemistry, neurogenetics, neuroimmunology, neuropsychology, neuroimaging, and computational sciences. Neuroscience has not only enriched the clinical disciplines of neurology, psychiatry, and neurosurgery, but will also elucidate the mechanisms by which the brain seeks to comprehend the cosmos. It is the most rapidly growing field in the natural sciences, and for a good reason: it seeks the Holy Grail of biology – how the brain produces mind.
