Agree 100% with the above. The prints (at high resolution) are an excellent base, but like any raw prop or costume piece, require some finishing to be perfect. Mated faces aren't always perfect due to differential cooling of the two parts, so some light sanding or filling may be necessary at the...

Agreed. To really look great, it would have to be hit with some glazing putty and sandpaper.

Since I printed it solid, it has a good sturdy feel. The closest comparison I could make would be solid cast resin, only lighter, and less breakable.

Well, it's finally done. The one in the picture was printed solid, so it's very strong and robust. This is the print pretty much as it came off of the printer, with the individual pieces being glued together, a quick sand, a hit of black paint, and a little silver dry brushing. Overall, a...

It's actually printing right now. I've got a few parts of it printed, but a couple curled a bit, so am reprinting. Hopefully I'll have pics up tomorrow or Monday.

It all depends on your technical savvy, level of patience, and available funds. Most 3D printers are not simply plug-and-play.. They take a fair bit of work to calibrate and keep running well for good results.
