Pretty sure that the uniform is cotton canvas and the other parts are neoprene.
This is what I could remember from the interviews that are included on the DVD version of the movie and the previews when this aired on Youtube.
Also Mike - you can just freehand the paint job.
It's just craft paint - not rattle cans - so I used a foam detail brush and dabbed it on in layers - helps achieve the proper "look" and requires no masking.
You could prob layer over the existing paint already on your sets with no problem -...

Like i mentioned - the buttons were custom cast by the prop-house as somewhat of a favor.
I could see about casting one of mine - I don't know if they will do it again.
If you ask me - I almost like the look of the McQuarrie Falcon better then what appeared in the film.
Its sleeker and more "realistic" looking - not the spaceships of the late 70's-early 90's that are basically floating trash dumps with anything and everything bolted on to the hulls.
