i sent him about 5 questions over text and got replies to 3 of them.:. Eventually called him the following day to get the answers to the remaining questions.
So far I’ve atrempted to paint one item. The paint went on smooth and just looks gorgeous. I skipped the purchase of alumiluster as I...
In an attempt to paint urethane I just purchased a quart sized kit of imperiflex to trial the product before I commit to purchasing this stuff by the gallon.
After receiving it I realized there is no instructional pdf or online tutorial on its use. Doesn’t even come with a tech data sheet for...
I operated in the other direction. I used to use onyx exclusively for my helmets but would find that sometimes when removing the flash from the helmets I would run the risk of cracking the pieces through and through. Found out through Reynolds that since onyx has a higher surface strength but...
No fillers were used. I spoke to Reynolds and they suggested I use the 65d as the first coats and then use something like onyx for the final coat to give it some strength.
I’ve been slush casting my helmets with 65d for quite some time. But now that the summer time heat is upon us I’ve noticed that some of my smooth cast 65d castings are warping during shipping. I’ve recieved some customer feedback showing backplates they have become misshapen upon arrival and I’m...
Ben experimenting with several different reds and methods on my urethane pieces. Think I came up with one I like but I need to see if it bonded correctly with the urethane. Also using BJB SC89 clear coatings.
note: the paint can in the pics was just for color comparison, as I’m trying to match it.
What red did you use and what’s your method of application? I’m having issues sometimes with the color sticking to the piece. Sometimes I find it can be rubbed off and peeled away. Maybe my coats are too thick or I’m not allowing enough time between coats. I’ll try thinner more spaced out coats...
Re: Superhero Face Mask Sculpts (Robin and Hal Jordan first up!)
Looks epic! Any chance you’d give us a peek at how you do your molds? I’m molding a domino mask and not exactly sure the best way to do it.
im bumping this thread because I am also interested in any urethane paint techniques. Im trying to get a nice bright metallic red going and have only succeeded in making it a metallic matte red. Ive had some luck using alclad ii paints... but not all colors are compatible with a rubber surface...
Not much you can do to squeeze into something that is too small. But if you end up wanting to try a different cowl, I sell a custom Hybrid that is sized for a 24" head but actually fits a bit larger due to the fact that I had long hair when I designed it so there is extra room in the back, which...
I know you said you made your own but wanted to show you the ones I make. These AK gauntlets are Made of 80 shore urethane. Extremely detailed, lightweight and durable.
I use the fast setting onyx for both slush casting my helmets and gauntlets and for doing my belt pieces as well and haven't had an issue with it. It's really dry where I am so maybe your issues are due to environmental variables like humidity?
