Does anyone make proper spring steel dosimeter clips?

Hi all, Is there a supplier for proper spring steel clips for dosimeter code cylinders? The originals were spring steel coated in a gold paint... but the only repros I’ve ever found are brass which looks wrong, is way too weak and doesn’t spring! I have one original clip and they are steel...

    Mulbin's Thermal Detonator Build

Hi all, I'm trying a quick side build while I wait for large prints to complete for my droids. I've always wanted one of these, but was put off by how bad regular printed ones tend to look...but now I have a resin printer! This is where I am after a couple of days, still a bit of painting to...

Centrepiece of the Death Star conference room: what floor heater is it?

I’ve been looking into this too. Im fairly sure it’s the saucer shaped pifco as trooper Trent says, with two domes added. I know he said he just painted a heater but I’ve found a lot of his anecdotes to be wildly mis-remembered or inaccurate.... 40 years of telling the same stories will do that ;)

My C3PO / Protocol building adventures (and other props)

Sorry for the lack of updates, I've been working on other projects! I realised I never posted pics of the finished gold tinting. So here they are! I'm hoping to get some more of the body ready for painting very soon.

My 3D printed New Hope R2-D2 Work in progress

Thought it was about time I shared my progress on my New Hope inspired R2 build. He's 100% 3D printed (except for electrical systems, and will be fully functioning when complete. I'm aiming to get the look of the new hope droid and have spent a lot of time perfecting a paint effect to look...

My original found item as used on the new hope R2-D2 (no, not his holoprojector)!

Yeah, I've just picked one up :) They still make the same pattern for £5 on amazon. I just need to identify all the other cylinders they attached it to!

My original found item as used on the new hope R2-D2 (no, not his holoprojector)!

Really pleased with my latest purchase. R2 was mostly custom made for New hope, but there are a few bits that were found items (most famously the holoprojectors which were aircraft reading lamps). Here is a more obscure one! This is my original vintage Griffin and George “Microid” retort...

    Looking for datapad animations!

Hi all, Does anyone have any links to animations for datapads? Like scanners, readouts etc in Aurabesh? You can't move for flash anims to make a screen look like LCARS, but where is all the star wars stuff? I'm making a generic data pad and really want it to be playing some animated graphics.

Tarkin / Imperial officer under shirts

It looks like the cuff links are white with a rim around them in the screen grab. I wouldn’t mind betting they were white dress studs, usually they would be mother of pearl or ivory in a silver or gold rim. Interesting, I seem to have discovered part of the tarkin costume I hadn’t thought of...

Tarkin / Imperial officer under shirts

That’s interesting, if he’s wearing French cuffs then he must also be wearing cuff links as that’s the only way to fasten a French cuff. Now I want to know what Tarkins cuff links are like! Little Death Stars? ;)

Tarkin / Imperial officer under shirts

Can anyone tell me if there are images of what was worn underneath the olive grey uniforms? Tarkin is clearly wearing a white shirt of some sort but I'd love to find out exactly what sort. 501st just says "white dress shirt" which could mean anything. is the collar straight, button down, band...

My C3PO / Protocol building adventures (and other props)

Making progress with tinting the alclad. This is using Gordon Tarpley’s method mixing yellow and red food colouring with gloss artists varnish. The trick seems to be to gradually build up layers. I’m on about 10 thin coats so far, looks a little paler in real life.
