    It's a bird? It's a plane? Nah, it's just a box. Any Discworld enthusiasts?

Camera, what's a camera? Iconograph if I may! :P I doubt an imp would be very happy inside that thing :D Thank you, all of you!

Laser cut props: What would you want made?

As for cutting or engraving metal on a regular laser cutter (not talking industrial ones here which can cut plate steel) you cannot cut metal, however there are two other things you can do. If you have brushed aluminium you can engrave it, rather successfully. It leaves a whiteish engraving...

Finally got around to actually finishing the box. While the exterior has been finished for some time I now had time to clad the inside with some proper foam. Here's the finished job, as well as what the case will hold: The foam is called Plastazote, which while having a wide...

Aye, I can really recommend it. Only downside is though that once you start etching you keep looking around for things to etch all the time. It's a dangerous appetite to whet.

M Constantine, the size is about 15x25x27cm (6x10x10.5 inches), so it's not a terribly large box. Neil, in a sense I think so. If you've spent the time to build something precious I think it deserves to be handled like the artifact it actually is. :)

Indeed, it's not The Luggage, I have a feeling that TSA would have a field day if I tried to carry something like that on the plane as my carry on. I'm even worried that this will attract too much attention. Thanks guys! :)

Yeah, you are completely correct. To be honest the Discworld idea didn't strike me until I was about halfway into the build. It was, to begin with, going to be a completely utilitarian box...but my ambition got the best of me :D

    Help making a shield

If you have access to a Dremel (or Dremel like) tool they're fairly easy to work with though. Just practice for a bit on an extra piece of material and I'm sure you'll soon get the hang of it. If you want it to be very light weight but still keep the feeling of wood though you could build a...

I recently found myself in posession of a Graflex large format camera, well by found myself I mean I bought one from eBay to do tintype photography, but that's another story. I think quite a few of you, especially the Star Wars fanatics among you, are familiar with the Graflex cameras since the...

    Help making a shield

I would highly recommend looking at how Harrison Krix made his Shield of Whiterun: Volpin Props: Shield of Whiterun, Skyrim Granted, it's a bit overkill for someone who hasn't made something like this before, but you could probably pick up some pointers along the way. It looks like a fairly...
