A filming locations buff for most of my adult life, I originally founded MovieShotsLA in 2006 after I came across several location websites whose authors were failing to put in the time, energy and research necessary to create a quality product. The result was the regular publication of incorrect material. I am DIFFERENT than those other sites. I do not believe in providing information that I am 90%, 99% or 99.9% sure about. At MovieShotsLA, the locations posted are ALWAYS 100% credible – otherwise they would not be posted. That is what sets me apart from the myriad of other location sites out there - my fierce passion to be accurate. Albert Einstein once said, “The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources.” That quote might as well be the motto for the vast majority of location websites currently online, the authors of which simply copy locales (often in their entirety) from other blogs with little to no new research performed or information offered. MovieShotsLA is the ANTIDOTE to those other sites. I am of the supreme belief that if a person is going to take the time to start a website or blog and put information out there, they should also take the time to post new and original content, perform copious research, publish quality photographs, and be correct in their reporting. Otherwise what’s the point? I dare to be ORIGINAL. While most other location enthusiasts consider this pursuit a hobby, for me it is a career. MovieShotsLA has absolutely changed and enriched my life and brought me farther than I ever dreamed possible. In December 2011, I was invited to join the Location Managers Guild of America (LMGA) as an apprentice – a role created especially for me based on my unique interests and endeavors. My love of locations has cultivated an unexpected love of photography and one of my pictures was recently chosen for the prestigious honor of being featured in the 2012 issue of AFCI’s Locations Magazine. I met one of my closest friends, Lindsay Blake, from the IAMNOTASTALKER blog, thanks to MovieShotsLA and the two of us have discovered that when it comes to finding locations, partnered up, we are unstoppable. I was also recently hired at one of Southern California’s premiere movie production companies and am now officially a part of the industry that I have so long admired. I am excited to see where MovieShotsLA leads me next. It all comes back to my love of locations and my determination to provide accurate, quality and unique content to those that share my interests.
