Hika, that's really interesting. It does look like that could be the case. Sometimes if you were to get a spot of bleach on fabric it could do weird discolorations like this, but it does kind of look like it could be in the weave.

Here's a shot of the Target display of the Obi sash. The fabric is very textured, so if it is a linen, is it raw linen? Could it be crinkle gauze? Picture is not accurate for color.
