Thor & Ironman (arm construction costume pg.8)

Re: Thor & Ironman (Servo talk pg.3) Sorry, surrealkiller1, I can't help with this one. I copied the code right from the Pololu tech guide. I have no clue how to write code :facepalm. I used a seperate power system that disconnected when the faceplate is open and connects once the faceplate...

Thor & Ironman (arm construction costume pg.8)

I can think of 2 things 1. Some parts are too small to use our fingers to glue together. I used the tip of my exacto knife and a finger to hold smaller things together. 2. some parts have so small of detail, or so small of tabs that they need to be omitted and replaced with mudding (bondo)...

Thor & Ironman (arm construction costume pg.8)

If you are not going to remove your helmet, I would recommend pull cables. Servos in the helmet are a nightmare to work with. The helmet is a very small space. If you can put the servos in the chest or back, you can get bigger, more relaible servos and for a cheaper price. I haven't...

    Fiberglass Mat vs. Cloth

I don't think this is a fair assessment of the cured strength. It would be similar to saying concrete isn't strong because its a bunch of water, sand & limestone. I would guess that Mat is stonger for all the reasons stated in the posts above. And BECAUSE it is easy to pull apart, it lets...

Thor & Ironman (arm construction costume pg.8)

Re: Thor & Ironman (Forearm to Fingers pg.8) Now that the right hand is almost done and no way of finishing the suit by halloween, I'm gonna go for the 'arm building phase' for a costume. There are 2 scenes, where Tony is working with the arm, and 3 different variations of the armor. Let me...

Thor & Ironman (arm construction costume pg.8)

Re: Thor & Ironman (Hand Assembly pg.7) Thank you. I think I enjoy the detailing, because it can really get your mind off anything :) I'm using Robo3687 Mk 4/6 files for the armor: Iron Man Pep Files.rar - 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download And Zabana's hand files...

Re: Thor & Ironman (Hand Assembly pg.7) Thanks, man! I'm a long way from making the boots, so I haven't begun to think about them yet, sorry. Here is an update on the hand. Just need to get the repulsor up and running...

Steampunk Ironman Helmet WIP - 5/31 update

Re: Steampunk Ironman Helmet WIP - Carving Detail Lines Video Yes. They used to sell it at Home Depot. But, they switched to an off brand and it isn't the same. I'm sure they would sell it at an auto supply store.

Steampunk Ironman Helmet WIP - 5/31 update

Re: Steampunk Ironman Helmet WIP - Carving Detail Lines Video That texture is 'Bondo' Rubber Undercoating. I've tried other brands, but none have a texture as good as Bondo. It's kind of a cast iron look.

Thor & Ironman (arm construction costume pg.8)

Re: Thor & Ironman (Retro-Fit Unibeam pg.7) If you watch the donut shop scene in Ironman 2, you can see that the handplate is attached to the hand not the forearm. I used white LEDs for my eyes. I was having some trouble with the handplate flipping over when my arm was down. I was thinking...
