It does take practice making sure you stay at a consistent cutting angle I do like using a hot knife it seals while it cuts and gives nice smooth lines. My first few times I ended up trying to sand it down with a dremel tool

Evil Ted has a great basic helmet pattern that can be easily modified to suit your needs. It is an open face design but again super easy to modify

I had to paint a pair of faux leather gloves for a riddler costume I had made and I found success with regular old krylon spray paint and clear coat sealer. I would post a picture but my phone is not cooperating.

Are you doing this with paper or foam? I like my eva and craft foams easy to work with and fairly forgiving.

Those shoes are awesome bro! I had made a pair of gloves for my riddler costume out of a pair or pleather gloves from a thrift shop I ended up spray painting them with krylon spray paint and it stuck very well and I sealed them with spay modge podge.

thats awesome man riddler is one of my favorite characters. I love the weathered and aged look on props. Thats why im a sucker for the arkham city cane lol
