    Latex/resin question

When you say "harden" I'm assuming that you want it to be stiffer, but not necessarily hard like a helmet. If it is a mask with some room inside (like a pull over the head mask,) you can lay down some latex soaked cloth or even latex soaked cotton inside in various places inside. When dry...

    Casino Royale Help please

For the signatures, you can use an old forgers trick... using a light box is a good idea, but turn it upside down first. That way, you aren't thinking of individual letters but, rather, individual shapes - curves - lines, etc. It works surprisingly well.

Purple goo - need some kinda clear purple goo - Eureka Season 3

I'm going with EyeofSauron on the AXE Shower Gel. My girlfriend's mother gives me a different AXE gift set every year (think she's trying to tell me something?) and I know one was a very purple, shiny gel. I'll try to figure out which one.

    Help identifying gray Big-Eyed alien

I'll check that out. It does look like something they'd put together. Nothing at their website, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything... they don't put up a shot of everything they've ever done.

Best way of cutting a square hole in Styrene?

First, lay down some thick masking tape at the edges of the square - this will help create a "stop" for your blade. Then, as suggested by others, either use a modelers scribe, or, as I do, use an X-acto knife turned upside down, so the cutting edge is toward the ceiling. I always use an older...

Anyone have a chain saw sound board?

Getting a chainsaw sound isn't a big problem - you can get a sound recorder/player unit from Radio Shack for about ten bucks. But you need to hook it to a small amplifier with some decent speakers if you want it to be loud enough to drown the crowd at Comic con. Serious question - how big an...

Logan's Run DS gun speed build

Looks sweet, but weather it some more. Go over some of the corners with a fine file or sandpaper. Although the thing doesn't have a holster to be pulled out of, the barrel and such should get some more weathering on the sides. After all, a Sandman wrestling around, fighting off cubs all...

    Help identifying gray Big-Eyed alien

I looked up some photos from Intruders (at your suggestion) and the aliens look a little more pointy chined, small mouthed and don't seem to have the large "protrusions" on the skin. This guy looks a little "meaner" than those. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

    Help identifying gray Big-Eyed alien

I have this screen-used alien (gray, big eyed alien, not big black teeth in the tongue Alien) from some production. I don't know if it is a movie or television production, but it is definitely not a store bought mask. It is made from foamed latex, with a well hidden zipper in the back. The...

    Question: Which materials?

Yes, thin layers, slowly built up, like Frosty said. You can make the edges virtually invisible by applying a little latex and tapping it with a rough sponge before it dries - this helps create a skin texture/pore effect that allows for a realistic look. The nice thing about zombie make-up...

    Question: Which materials?

Latex is easier to use than silicone... I'm not saying it is better, just easier to use. I pointed out in a previous post some ways to prevent the chalkiness that often comes with latex. On trick that is used a lot is to paint a couple layers (2 or 3 max) onto a sheet of glass and let it dry...
