Red 2 Captain Cardboard Legacy X-Wing

Hey guys, Inspired by many of the fantastic modelers here and elsewhere, I have completed my first Studio Scale model: Red 2. It was built from a new cast by Hoss Hobbies of the Captain Cardboard masters. Though I have experience with resin models, this was a pretty challenging build and I...

3D Printed 1/24 Scale Tie Interceptor (Done!)

Wow, looks awesome so far, excellent work. Is this Alain Rivard's file? I would go for Haze Gray personally. For me that looks the closest to on screen and my memory.

    Pledge/Future UV resistance

I've always used Vallejo Acrylic Varnishes for clear coats, and had good results, except for looking for that super smooth glassy high gloss you are talking about. I think Lacquer Glosses sometimes with Levelling thinner work best for that, like Alcad Aqua Gloss

Dental Floss As A Masking Medium

Nice that worked awesome! Another way I've seen for similar parts, is to spray the whole the thing the color of the lighter pieces, then use enamel paint for the metallic thing, and use enamel thinner and a Qtip to remove it from the part that needs to be the original color. Your method seems...

    Bandai 1/72 Tie Fighter Completed

Thanks so much guys! I believe I used a mix of 2 parts Tamiya Flat White and 1 part Tamiya XF-82 Ocean Gray. Although I did add a bit more white to do a center of panel highlight after that, so it came out just a bit lighter. The end result is not exactly screen accurate because of the...

    Bandai 1/72 Tie Fighter Completed

Hey guys! Finished up this Bandai Tie a few months ago and finally decided to make a post and share some pics. Overall, like all of the Bandai Star Wars, it is an excellent kit. Any modeler with basic skills could piece one of these together in a few hours, and painting it is not really any...

    JC's Space Marine!

Hey guys! Finally got an update! I spent some time today cutting and assembling the chest, and will hopefully spend some more time fixing it up this weekend! Taping and cutting templates is my least favorite part... The legs are getting lonely I think. I tried to get cleaner seams on this...

    JC's Space Marine!

Hey guys, Got a small update with some pics! Picked up some more foam, should be enough to wrap up the project! Assembled the arms I had from before then moved on to the lower chest plate, which for a reason I can't fathom doesn't fit quite right... More work to be done!

    JC's Space Marine!

Hey all! Finally getting back on track, picking up more foam tomorrow! My battle plan is to get the main chest piece done, and then move on to using some of the thinner foam I will buy for some detail work on the thighs, shins, and knees. Once the Chest is done and has it's supports in, I'll...

    JC's Space Marine!

Hey Amish! Will hopefully have a progress update this week when I start working on the chest, and also some of the detail stuff I've been doing. My templates are pretty much all Hasenbraus, except the helmet of course. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
