    Blade Mechanism help

Here's what I would do. Use a decent speed servo with good torque- something like a Hitec HS-7966HB. Mount the servo on a linear slide. Attach a large drive gear (the largest you can fit in your gauntlet) to the servo and a gear rack on the fixed part of the slide- the larger the gear the...

    Head/canon Tracking

I have a BeagleBone Black but I haven't really played around with it much yet- it's an awesome board based on the specs. I think the only problem with using open cv and a webcam is tracking at a distance or in a non perfect environment. There is some code someone posted here-...

    Accurized P1 Medkit - Finished

That is awesome- a must have item. I'm going to need to shrink down the backpack electronics a bit so that can fit in there. I can't wait to see someone pull this out of their backpack at a con- that will be epic. :)

Carlart Predator Backpack And Cannon Review

Art, here's how the magnet system works right now. There's two angle plates that the magnets latch on to- one on the pack and one on the clamshell. Did you know you're supposed to cut out the bottom of the clamshell so it's hollow? I need to ask Carl about the medkit so I can plan how I want to...

Carlart Predator Backpack And Cannon Review

Haha! You can't possibly be worse than me- I really hate painting. Right now Jamie's pack is empty- the mechanics do add a fair bit of weight and I'm trying to simplify it and lighten it up for future builds. I'll be curious to see what you do with the magnets as that's the same solution I have...

Carlart Predator Backpack And Cannon Review

I'll be watching this as I'm in the middle of refurbishing Jamie Hall's backpack right now and I'm going to need to do some paint work. Jamie's backpack was damaged pretty badly during filming and subsequent shipping to me and the forwardmost area of the backpack just ahead of the cannon...

    New P1 Cannon Build...completed

Art, When Carl called me on Sunday and asked me to weigh in on this debacle we discussed the recasting issue and the idea that detail parts of his cannon could have been snap molded and placed on Gary's cannon was discussed as there were no progress photos from the basic cannon shape to the...

    New P1 Cannon Build...completed

Gene, I did speak with Carl today about backpacks and cannons being shipped and I was wrong. Two backpacks were shipped in April and one went to Damon but the other did not go to you. For this I sincerely apologise. I had always been under the impression since last year that you had received...

    New P1 Cannon Build...completed

Since I know both Carl and Gary I spoke with both of them at length concerning this. Gary has always impressed me as a very professional standup guy and he assured me this cannon was 100% his own work. He did use photos of Carl's cannon as a reference and was told the length of Carl's cannon for...

    Predator Vs Wolverine

I thought it was awesome. Both of the characters were played very well and  Ithought the effects were really well done. I'll be interested to see the condition of the backpack and cannon once I get them back from Jamie for refurbishment- I've got a few improvements planned that will make it a...

    Another Animatronic Cannon!

I've several of the Pololu up/down regulators in the past and they work jst fine. I like that Traco one because it's so tidy. :)

    Another Animatronic Cannon!

You should also check out this litte gem- it's a step down switching regulator that will supply 5V @ 1A with an input voltage range from 6.5V to 32V. It also comes in a 3.3V version. http://www.adafruit.com/products/1065

    Another Animatronic Cannon!

Here's the info for that boost converter.- it's a Linear LT1308. It'll provide 5V @ 1A. http://www.linear.com/product/LT1308#overview That's a pretty slick lamp setup. For high power stuff I've only used Luxeon high power LEDs with a contant current buck driver.
