Blade Runner Blaster Build (Anders / DaveChaos / Tip Top Worksop)

Thanks! Im really happy with the tile. The pattern on the fabric is right, I just need to be more careful when I print it. I built a simple frame to keep everything registered. Hopefully I’ll have time to try again in a few days.

Blade Runner Blaster Build (Anders / DaveChaos / Tip Top Worksop)

I made an Ennis House tile, some bullets, and the scrap of the shirt Deckard used to bandage his fingers to use as a display for the blaster. I'm going to take another stab at getting the pattern on the cloth right, this one is pretty close... but I think I can do better. I'll also add a but of...

Yeah, I use regular foil from the grocery store. Heavy duty (not regular or super heavy duty) seems to be the sweet spot, but your mileage may vary. Once you burnish the foil, all the detail of the part underneath shows up very clearly. I put pictures of the products I used in the earlier post...

Blade Runner Blaster Build (Anders / DaveChaos / Tip Top Worksop)

Apply a super thin layer of adhesive to aluminum foil. Let it tack up. Keep it VERY clean. Any dust will show through. Prep the part & clean it (I used alcohol wipes). Slowly work the foil around the chamber & start working the foil into the recesses. I overlapped the foil slightly @ used 1000 &...

Thanks! I’m working on a base for it. I’ll post pictures when I’m further along.

Thanks, the kit is very cool.

I didn't do anything special. I have the typical collection of new, old and nearly useless files and Dremel bits that I use to get into corners. One super thin off-brand sanding drum bit was very helpful. I did end up using the cheap-o dental tools I bought from Amazon a few times. Pewter is so...

No, I thought about it. Work keeps getting in the way of my time consuming hobbies…

Blade Runner Blaster Build (Anders / DaveChaos / Tip Top Worksop)

I spent a bit more time getting some of the details correct (per the pictures of the prop I found, your milage may vary). I still need to redo the white wires. I used a white shrink tubing to protect the top. I works, but stands out too much. Also, I plan to grind down some of the bolt heads at...

Blade Runner Blaster Build (Anders / DaveChaos / Tip Top Worksop)

I sort of did all of the above. I reshaped the metal & resin as much as possible. I heated the grips & then got all the threads started. Then I applied heat & pressure until it locked in place. That was followed by more reshaping until it looked unified. Even after all that, when I pulled it...

Blade Runner Blaster Build (Anders / DaveChaos / Tip Top Worksop)

Ugh that sucks! I didn't have too much trouble with the sight rod thing. I did drill it out a bit to get the passthrough hole more centered and used my own wires. I don't have the temperament for the thin ones that came with the kit...

Things you're tired of seeing in movies

I actually don’t mind a mythology… if it’s planned out ahead of time. IMO, with some fun exceptions, most of the time a show like the X-Files spends explaining how & for what new but historical agency a formerly charred skeleton works is time spent not telling a new and interesting story—or even...
