Metal casting question.. any metals offer 1:1 casting size?

Some of the extremely low melt stuff is fun... I have been playing with a few pounds of Wood's metal (Low 158) that I picked up last year... Although not good for handling due to the lead and cadmium, it's fun stuff to play with... I melt it in double boiler using plain water and you can cast...

Smooth Cast Bubbles... What am i doing wrong?

I personally try to do my casting when it's not humid and I regularly boil my resin to keep it fresh and containment free... So my experiences might not be the same as yours as I tend to not push the issue... But, just the same I have cast parts with Smooth On 300 series on the same day I have...

Smooth Cast Bubbles... What am i doing wrong?

It's moisture contamination... You have two choices, get a resin the is more tolerant of moisture or find the source of contamination and rectify it.. If the resin itself is contaminated, you will need to boil it either under vacuum at room temp, or on a hot plate outside to remove any...

[Please Help]How to make dried blood for wooden props?

To age the wood (once it's physically distressed) get a chemical pump sprayer and load it with liquid pool shock chlorine (higher concentration chlorine then common household stuff, common household bleach that will work also but not as fast)... Wearing your obvious protections like gloves, eye...

Seeking advice on remote control system to activate props

Ebay, search "wireless rf remote relay" for starters, there are a TON of cheap Asian remote systems out there based on the same parts, you just need to decide how many channels you want... There are some 8, 12 and 15 channel units that should get you well on your way...

What do you use to make molds with?

Lots of different silicones, hit up your local yellow pages for a resin supplier or Google a local one... Smooth On offers some great stuff, but you pay for the name... You can get comparialbe resins and rubbers for cheaper if you shop around... BTW the OOMOO is nice in that it's a 1:1 mix...

    Who's worked w/ Vanillacryl?

Probably, but it's the 21st century and that is honestly IMO the worst way to market a product to your potential customer base, the average forum user HATES and DESPISES drive by SPAM postings... It's become one of the rudest and most inconsiderate things a 'newbie' forum member can do...

    Who's worked w/ Vanillacryl?

I'm actually leaning that way for my project right now after this thread got me thinking about alternatives again, mostly because I can get it over the counter... I have used 50/50 blends of plaster and latex paint in the past as a coating, but I might mix it up this time and toss in some latex...

    Huge styrofoam blocks?

So, it's still relevant to the topic at hand, it's not like some year and a half for sale thread or something that expires... Although truthfully I have actually scored some great deals on long expired sales threads that never sold, so even they are not a waste... No need to start another...

    Who's worked w/ Vanillacryl?

Since you are here simply spamming traffic to your site and not actually assisting the forum, I'll toss in a few more question to see if you have any other intentions beyond spamming... Your new interior product appears by all accounts to be a plaster based coating very similar to Foam Coat...

    Heating plasticine for silicone molds

Yeah, I want to do a little video or at least some pictures to make it more clear, just too busy with everything else right now...

    Heating plasticine for silicone molds

Yes, I have... Different clays will result in different consistencies and remember it's HOT, STICKY and HOT! But, once you get it melted it's just like syrup or a thick goo, and it's generally thin enough to pour just fine... Caution should be taken though as the temperature might very well...

    Where to buy resin?

This has nothing to do with resin, they are simply adding powdered glow pigment to clear nail polish...

    Heating plasticine for silicone molds

I personally HATE, DESPISE, LOATHE cleaning clay off the finished piece prior to molding the 2nd half and thus avoid it at all cost... Heating it up and letting it set against the part would only enrage me more :) See this post for how I get a straight crisp parting line with minimal to no...
