Yes, the rolled edge is piping, but not with cordura--I thought the texture looked different in the reference photos, so I used a leather-like fabric.

Thanks! For the ribbing I used a stiff cord sandwiched between two pieces of fabric--I placed the pieces of cord one at a time and used a zipper foot to stitch right next to them.

I finished my kneepads. They're made from corded cordura over a wonderflex/magicsculp base shape, with craft foam and ... I don't know what it's called, but like mousepad foam ... as padding. I wouldn't want to use them for sports but for just kneeling on the floor they're quite functional.

So I've officially started making this for myself (genderswapped I guess though I'm not planning on altering the design any--it was kind of a tossup between making it for myself and making it for my husband and then I found a pair of women's tactical pants in exactly my size at goodwill for only...

    Supernatural Props.What Ya Got... 4 Years 2010-2014

Re: Supernatural Props. What Ya Got... I started making a replica of Ruby's knife as a birthday present to myself yesterday, and I came across this thread while looking for reference pics of the engraving. Thought I'd share what I've got of the blade so far.

Vogue Loki - I finally finished a costume! (Photo Heavy)

    This is absolutely gorgeous.

    Yet another Loki build

Thanks! So, I think the first section to remake is the pants, for comfort purposes. I'm planning to sacrifice a bit of screen-accuracy in exchange for wearability and use a breathable fabric for parts of them instead of all vinyl. I figure that the side panels that are covered with scales can...

    Dragoncon 2012

Oh hey, we met at the costume contest! I was the colorful zombie who was there with Loki. I had a lot of fun at the con--my biggest regret is not doing as many group meetups/photoshoots as I'd have liked. I think doing the parade may have been a mistake, for Loki at least--he started...

    RPF Dragon*Con Meet-Up

I didn't get a chance to meet very many of you, but I was glad to meet those that I did! (I was the girl with the black tank and arc reactor on Thursday).

    Yet another Loki build

We finished putting it all together Thursday night in our hotel room (pretty much the entire costume is my work, but Jeff did the majority of the zipperstop crimping). I am overall very happy with how it came out though we've determined it needs some upgrading simply for wearability. The only...

    Yet another Loki build

Thanks, AVA! Funny story: I was at the beauty supply store yesterday to get some last-minute con supplies and with their hair stuff they had headbands made of a material that looked about perfect for this ... unfortunately instead of metal it was all one solid piece of molded plastic, so I...

Avengers Loki - 9/11 FULL ARMOR COMPLETE!

Thank you! I had seen the trim close-up before, so I knew what sort of material was needed, I'd just had no luck finding anything like it. Do you happen to know if this material has a specific name, so I can look for it online? I've been working on the armor--I have very little experience...

    Yet another Loki build

Jaina -- I meant to add, I used about a yard and a half of the textured vinyl, and between 5 and 6 yards of the plain (I bought 6 yards, but I lost a bit due to inefficiencies in pattern layout and to mistakes). This included the pants. The main body of the tunic is not vinyl, because to me it...
