    Savage toolbox question

rescue542 How's it going with this, I hope you are still working on it. I got some math help on Reddit (because it was bugging me so much) and got our formula for working out the offset below centre for the lid curve based on the dimensions in the pics above: 156-156*COS(ACOS((SQRT(114^2 +...

    Savage toolbox question

Clarifying, 156mm = 160mm total height minus sheet thickness of 1mm minus bracket thickness of 3mm. Use the edge length instead of the straight length, that will show proper radius:

    Savage toolbox question

On the lid dimension you are seeking, this is a tricky part. An edit here because my original simplified idea wouldn't work due to the floating centre point of the arc. I'm not entirely sure how to pull all this off on paper because of that, but the dimensions shown are what I ended up with...

    Savage toolbox question

Nice, another toolbox in the making :D. Here's the dimensions on my toolbox, these were mm conversions from the tape measure photos Adam posted somewhere on here I think it was. Keep the progress pics coming, it's cool seeing other builds of these!

Adam Savage Custom Multi-Tool Holder - Leatherman Charge

Okay, thanks for the info, I now have a 1:1 PDF template and a STEP file. The template is not 'inside' but for the sake of the exercise it will give you the same result.

Adam Savage Custom Multi-Tool Holder - Leatherman Charge

Hey Shadrack268, this will be 2mm aluminium. I'm a newbie to inventor, does anyone know how to get a 1:1 template print from the drawing that can be traced? I have managed to get a 1:1 drawing it seems, but it just squashes it down to the A4 print that I'm doing...

Adam Savage Custom Multi-Tool Holder - Leatherman Charge

Hi guys, here is my take on Adam's holder modified to suit the dimensions of the Charge. I haven't built it yet, but it is definitely WIP, so I'm yet to test my dimensions. For this build I will provide the Inventor files so everyone (who has access to that software) can have-at. My drawings...

    Savage Toolbox Replica

asavage, yep, the sorters are half the trick to this box. When I start to specialise in the tools that I go to, I'll start to develop some sorters. ATM it's some of the usual suspects, screw drivers & callipers. I'm also carrying my lab power supply, some Raspberry Pi's and a breadboard with...

    Chappie 1:1 scale head replica

LOL, well I certainly underestimated your experience, maybe someone else will pick up on the info though. I didn't actually find a melted look, I was able to retain sharp edges with pretty much no sign of the original layering. Using a Dimension Elite which layers pretty fine. Thanks for the...

    Savage Toolbox Replica

I learned a new trick tonight, I used a clear "SikaBond" spray adhesive to put the lettering on the lids. The letters did their best to try and straighten out overnight which is a bit problematic, they will fall off if they do that. What I found is that by re-applying the heat gun to the...

    Savage Toolbox Replica

Hey, thanks Adam, really appreciate having your comment! This box will be in daily use, make no mistake. As for the scissor lift, I have no immediate plan to make it, but next time I get the make itch... Cheers!

    Savage Toolbox Replica

Thanks for the comments guys. The latches arrived today and I learned something new, they do not come with the paired grabber. So, off down to the workshop and made a quick fabrication. Latches are now done, last thing to do is the cables to hold the lids when open.
