Trying a cheaper way to achieve raised webbing for Raimi suit

It all depends on which suit design you’re doing… are you trying to do a specific suit? the Raimi suit has thicker web lines compared to other suits

Lots of places…. I got mine on Amazon. The time of year. You can also get it at Halloween stores!

Neck fabric length/girth too much on spiderman mask from suit purchased at Printcostume

Okay I see what you mean now... I think what you plan to do would work well with keeping the mask from rising up. I can understand not wanting to attach anything to the suit. I personally like how it looks when the mask comes over the neck of the suit instead of the other way around, but it...

Neck fabric length/girth too much on spiderman mask from suit purchased at Printcostume

Does your mask have the elastic band at the bottom in addition to the zipper? That’s how mine came which I was annoyed by because I didn’t want elastic too. I ended up cutting off that part and hemmed it so that it wouldn’t bunch up and it also was the length I wanted, stopping just above the...

Hey Mike, wanted to loop back on this thread. I’m nearly done with my suit and am overall pretty pleased with how the snaps worked for attaching my mask. It results in my not being able to look really far down (I think the back snaps were placed a little off) but it results in a pretty seamless...

Trying a cheaper way to achieve raised webbing for Raimi suit

Hello again to anyone who is looking at this thread! Wanted to give a little update on my suit. I’m nearly done after about 3 months of pretty intense work on it. Just doing some to gluing touch ups and fixing some little errors on the webbing with silver/black sharpie. I don’t plan to ever take...

Neck fabric length/girth too much on spiderman mask from suit purchased at Printcostume

Nice! I can see that way working well too. I initially had the idea to Velcro and did a test with a backup mask and it went terribly lol. The way I’m doing the snaps will still result in them being hidden when the mask is on, but you will see them at the base of the neck when the mask is off...

Neck fabric length/girth too much on spiderman mask from suit purchased at Printcostume

Hey there, I know this is really late, but I can totally relate. I just got my first printcostume suit and went with the same zipperless mask, and discovered the same issue you had. I thought about trimming it but didnt feel confident enough in my sewing to hem it in a way that allows it to...

Trying a cheaper way to achieve raised webbing for Raimi suit

Making progress each day… I will soon have all the webbing down except for the mask (waiting on a new one with a zipper from printcostume). One annoying thing I realized pretty far into gluing is that I have not been the most consistent with the thickness of the webbing on the different parts of...

Most of the chest is done and got a good start on one hand. I was a little concerned I got the scale wrong when sizing the webbing on the hands but it actually worked out great.

Thanks for offering this! This definitely seems like something I’d like to try in the future. How hard was it to get the web lines really clean using that method? The method I’m using is certainly turning out to be time consuming.

Trying a cheaper way to achieve raised webbing for Raimi suit

Okay, another update. While I am still going to use the technique I came up with of puffy painting on the glass, I have had to alter my plan. It became clear that using the underside of the puffy painted pattern is not a feasible plan for a couple reasons: 1) the rounded surface of the puffy...

Trying a cheaper way to achieve raised webbing for Raimi suit

My test has dried and although it made me aware of some challenges, it’s still promising! See the pic of me laying it on the mask just to see if the scaling/placement is working. I intended to make the webbing a lighter color moving forward. Things I learned: 1) a single layer of puffy paint...
