Mine so far aren't really that bad, more annoying. Finally finished my helmet from Repo! The Genetic Opera and it fit and worked perfectly at home. But take it to Dragon*Con in the Gerorgia heat and it is all of the sudden a size too big (WTF? did my head shrink? Probably just the sweat) and...
I'll be there this year. But only going to be there Saturday. Not sure if I want to drag a costume with me for just one day, but if I do it will probably be my Tron costume or maybe one of my Hobbit ones. It's my first year going so I have no clue what is going on. Just glad that my brother...
Most of mine are in garment bags hung in my closet with any prop pieces either on the top shelf in my closet or in a plastic bin I use to transport shoes/food/random things when I go to cons. More flexible pieces I try to semi stuff with extra fabric/stuffing/bags so it doesn't loose shape...
I have boobs and have been messing around with costumes and props for the last 17 years give or take. I learned to sew when I was around 5-6 and haven't stopped since. I got into making props in High School and Junior College mainly out of necessity for the Theater program I was in. I have...
Re: Link and Zelda: Skyward Sword
I am looking a a bunch of hand sewing trims in the next year unless I get a new machine. My tiniest zigzag just eats the fabric no matter the setting.
The original wig looks good still even with the flash. Luckily with game/comic characters you have a bit...
Re: Link and Zelda: Skyward Sword
This is looking awesome. After seeing it I would say the wig you linked above would be better. The first one is nice, but it is on the bright side, especially when photographed. But truthfully with one would look fine.
Did you hand sew the trim on the...

I used LED on mine and it turned out great. The only problem I had was with the heat during transport melting the glue and my strips started to come undone. I used the technique here LED-lit Tron v2.0 suit , but used Taffeta and shower curtain instead of the vinyl and undershirt.
It's an ABS Spigot Flange I got in the pluming section at Lowe's.
And then in the same section I picked up a 3 inch cap. I ended up cutting both down since they stuck out way too much. And I recommend sanding down the inside of the cap before you put it on. I didn't do this and had to...
Almost finished with my costume for Dragon*Con. All I have left is to make a skirt since the pants I have turned out to be see through when photographed. Here's my finished coat though. Don't mind my packing mess or the giant hole in the door. That's a long story.
Lights on with no...
I like that idea. I may have to make that my 2.0 version of it since it will be a stretch to get this one fully done the rate I am going. My vacation can't get here soon enough so I have time to do nothing but costume.
About two months out from con so I figured I should get a start on putting this costume together.
I finally decided on a design. I'm going for a EOL club goer so I am sticking with a fairly simple design. Haven't fully decided if I want any lighting on the back other than the disc yet...
I know they make flexible/stretchy ones, but not sure how they will work on the Spandex. I saw them at Wal-mart here the the other day but I didn't check the price.
As in butting the ends up together? What I have done in the past is get some fabric tape/medical tape and tape them together on top and bottom and then paint over it. May put a little elmers glue then the tape to help it hold better. That way it covers the crack. If you want a smoother...
I am going that way. I'm still in the design process, but hopefully I will have something nailed down by next weekend. Got to finish up 2 costumes before I can really start on my Tron one. Luckily they are fairly simple sewing wise and don't need to be fully decked out til Dragon*Con.
