    Green arrow costume thread

I'm making a Katniss costume for my wife and bought one of these to modify: 09 Pse Chief Brush Camo Rh/lh - BowhuntingOutlet - Archery Equipment For $30 you get a bow, two arrows, a quiver, and plastic arm guard. I would say epoxy a 5 hour energy bottle to one of the arrows and spray it...

Harvey Birdman helmet - Now with Pep File!

Re: Harvey Birdman helmet - Need advice. Yeah, fiberglass (polyester) resin is what you need. You can find it in the auto section of Walmart or the like. In pepakura, you brush fiberglass resin on the outside of the piece to strengthen it, apply resin impreginated cloth or chop mat to the...

Harvey Birdman helmet - Now with Pep File!

Re: Harvey Birdman helmet - Need advice. It's not pepakura but I think this method could work for you The Spacesuit! - a set on Flickr Paper mache' a balloon (probably sideways for the shape you're looking for), apply resin for strength, and bondo to smooth it all out.

    Ghostbuster needs equipment!

I have some vacuuformed pack shells picking up dust in my garage if you're interested in going that route. The guy who made them used polystyrene so they're a little flimsy but he showed me a finished one that was filled with Great Stuff expanding foam. It was pretty solid and light weight...

WHO is the man in the SUIT?

The eyes came out great! Glad to hear the aluminum mesh worked out for you. Have you considered using one of those cheap plastic baseball helmets or a child sized army helmets for the yellow portion? Everything looks great so far. I can't wait to see the full costume ~Kevin

    Spider-Man Movie-style lens question

No worries. My post count is roughly the same as yours :thumbsup The copper mesh has the finest mesh which is what makes it so ideal for lenses. You could use the aluminum mesh but your eyes would most likely be visible. In my experience, any good spray paint should work but do thin layers to...

    Spider-Man Movie-style lens question

From what I understand, a lot of people use AMACO copper wire mesh with the outside surface painted white and the inner surface black. You can get the mesh from most craft stores but be forewarned; it'll run you around $14-$20. You can heat form some plexi for the outer lens. Good Luck, ~Kevin

    Spider-Man Mask Pattern?

Actually, it's the chest and mask connected. See the narrow part in the center of the image with the slit down the middle? That's the neck and everything above forms the mask. This picture makes it more clear. Note the collarbone at the base of the narrow spot...

    Spider-Man Mask Pattern?

I found this online a long time ago. I'm not sure who the author is so if you're on here, I apologize for posting it without permission. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v74/dorc...st_outline2.jpg I'm not sure if this is the whole mask or just the front half but it's all I could find without...

    3D CAD Help

I didn't think to use the teaser poster. Thanks, TFrosst. The picture I posted was an official release image that I used to show the curve but I've been using a blown up picture of a straight on of Routh in costume as my guide. I don't really know of any images from a side view or anything but...

    3D CAD Help

As the description says, I'm trying to replicate the shield from the new Superman Returns suit. As recent pictures have shown, there are tiny S shields all over the red and yellow fields that can't be accomplish it on a clay sculpture (short of making a texture stamp but the result wouldn't be...

For anyone who's interested, I found This Link They have a wide variety of dome shapes, sizes, and materials. Nothing exactly like the one I was looking for but it's a start.

    Seamless Clear Dome Help

Plastic Depot, huh? Sounds like something to look into. I'm actually in Ohio but I'm sure if I can't get a dome from them, they can give me a product number or something. This will definately be a project to work up to. Any good resources on blow molding or is it the kind of thing you need...

    Seamless Clear Dome Help

Looks like I have some blow molding research to do. Thanks for the advice. With a little luck, I'll end up with something worthy of posting pictures of. Thanks again, ~Kevin

    Seamless Clear Dome Help

Anybody have any clue how to do a helmet similar to this? The only way I can think to do it is one piece mold with a collapsible core but I'd still get air bubbles (unless I spend the rest of my youth pouring the clear resin through a syringe-sized opening or find a pressure pot the size of a...
