    Key to time replica

Hey guys, Sorry, I just noticed this thread! (Haven't been on the RPF in a while!) I was the guy who did the Lucite Key to Time. I did two runs, one in 2013 and one in late 2015/early 2016. Sadly there are no plans to do any more runs, and unfortunately I don't have any extras from the two...

Oblivion, is it up to us to guess what the star is? ;)

That, plus I assume you must have an awesome workshop at your disposal! :) Have you ever considered doing a large scale prop build, like a TARDIS console? (It's my dream to build that some day...!)

Dr. Who - Key to Time - Clear resin cast

Here is a PDF with the Key to Time paper cut-outs. This is based on plans that I found on the Internet which weren't accurate, so they have been revised to match the on-air segments exactly (along with some other clean-up). Some notes: - The cut-outs assemble to a half-size version of the...

Dr. Who - Key to Time - Clear resin cast

Just thought I'd make one final post on this thread for future posterity. First of all, the factory production photos were posted here: http://www.therpf.com/f9/dr-who-key-time-lucite-factory-production-photos-209775/ Any future discussion about the Lucite Key to Time should probably go...

Dr. Who: Key to Time (in Lucite) - Factory Production Photos

The next stage is making the tracer holes. These are half-inch holes that are drilled through the center of the cube on each axis. In preparation for this the cubes are tightly bound together: The cubes are carefully aligned on a drill press: And then the drilling can begin: The next...

Dr. Who: Key to Time (in Lucite) - Factory Production Photos

Here are some of the initially cut pieces. They appear to be translucent but are in fact crystal clear, it is only the surface that has this appearance because it hasn't been polished yet. Here's a series of blocks in the initial stages of being cut: The factory had cardboard replicas of...

Dr. Who: Key to Time (in Lucite) - Factory Production Photos

Hey guys, This post is long overdue. Last year I co-ordinated a project to build a replica of the Key to Time from Doctor Who: The factory that built these replicas was kind enough to provide some behind-the-scenes photos of the production process, showing the work that was involved in...

Dr. Who - Key to Time - Clear resin cast

Hey everyone, Now that my Key to Time project is over I thought I would update this thread for future posterity. After a bit of a slow start (the factory greatly underestimated how much work was involved in making the Key to Time segments) the run ended up being a great success! Here are...

    Show your Dr. Who props!

I started this project originally attempting to build the Key to Time myself: http://www.therpf.com/f9/dr-who-key-time-clear-resin-cast-141203/ I got as far as making the first segment in plaster before realizing that I would never be able to achieve the quality I wanted on my own. That's...

    Show your Dr. Who props!

Thank you! :) A couple of people in our group are going to have theirs done with a slight purple tint to more closely match the screen-used prop. (Or not -- There's debate over whether the original Key to Time was coloured or not. Seems to depend on what episode you watch!)

Yeah, we've only just recently got things rolling with this. (I don't even have mine at home yet, these photos were taken at the factory.)

Doctor Who Key to Time complete!

Wow, they turned out really nice! Very impressed. It's also fascinating to read the back story, I'm glad everything worked out in the end. I'm still waiting to do my run of the Key to Time, hopefully that'll happen within the next couple of months. Cheers,
